| what kinda boat do i need guys? ok.. heres my plan... im going to walk from dallas texas to holland,europe.. i need the cheapest boat thats durable enough to cross from canada to greenland. then from green land to iceland.. then from iceland to english channel.. what kinda boat will work? that one man can control? and what kinda boat would anyone here suggest to be able to make it all the way with out drowning? |

| * to start: you cant walk from dallas to holland * flying is a lot chieper, faster and more secure for one man * from iceland to english channel you would pass holland * elsewhere in the forums a similar idea has been dicussed and maybe that low budget solo world cruiser is still for sale somewhere... ![]() |

| pass holland? well ive been studying the map 4 years to make this trek.. and.... i can hit the dutch harbor by cutting stright down the right side of scottland... down and make a sharpe right... bam, holland. |

| Since you say cheap you'd want a sailboat, those northern waters want some respect though, so it needs to be tough. A small heavy displacement strongly built sloop, cheap timber mast, simple heavy rig . Small low reving diesel engine with a big prop. I could design you an easy build chine steel vessel to fit the bill.
