It's actually not the methane that causes the nasty smell of farts, swamp gas and the like, but rather a class of chemical s called mercaptans that is virtually always a by-product of the same biotic processes that produce methane in swamps and intestines alike.

Greenidioteece wants to reduce the planet population to one billion in order to save it from us.
One of the reason given is CH4, same reason for going vegetarian, cows fart too.
Fortunately this idiotic concept has been debunked a long time ago. Mammals who fart including us, compensate the CH4 production by far with stimulating the growth of green plants who produce oxigen and capture CO2 galore.

I'm afraid that plugging anyone's behind will have nill effect on global cooling.
