Tree huggers(whale huggers?) have banned all things whale in U.S., unless you are Inuit or other Amerindian with tradition of whaling.

There is rumour that some Norwegian did some clubbing here in Florida. It was said to be a seal of disapproval.

The tricky thing about whale meat is that if it's not correctly prepared it can smell and taste a bit like fish oil, which isn't a good thing.

You also need to be very careful not to overcook it, it should be cooked even less than beef. There is a trick which can be used for preparing fatter pieces, marinate it in milk and let it soak a while.

Always try cutting it against the grain, never parallel to the grain when slicing.

Soy and Teriyaki sauce both go very well with whale, you can also use thyme or coriander with good results.

Serve with potatoes and optionally green peppercorn sauce.

You might also want to verify which whale species the meat came from, Fin whale (North Atlantic) and Minke whale are probably fine but many of the others should be avoided and/or reported due to them being endangered species.

Well.. anyway now it's done and down the hatch.. Some courgette, bananas, paprika and other vegs fried then the sliced steak a few minutes. Salt, pepper, some red wine, worchester sauce, mushroom soy and sweet sour sauce. Cooking together a few minutes more.. Sliced potatoes from the owen.

Best meat ever.. even better than horse beef..
