| Water Maker Pressure Does anyone knows how much pressure is required to force water through a water maker's filters ? I have a little rolling pump that makes 100kpa or 1 bar... whichever comes first Trying to find out if it would work. It draws only 100mA under full load...

| Are you building your own? Not having experience of the subject, but reckon about any presssure will work. Higher ones give more water so long the membrane doesn't tear.. Thou waiting more educated answers too ![]() |

| Because the filter membranes are so fine it may be that you will need quite a bit of pressure to get the water through. I just don't know how much pressure.

| The actual PSI I do not know but the pumps are similar to those high pressure cleaning pumps used to clean the asses of boats - somewhere near that needed to peel off blackened chewing gum or paint from a concrete footpath? it needs to be pressure regulated as significant volume is passed through the system taking the extra salt and other **** out... and a reverse flush is needed to clean the membrane every so often - go and have a look at one installed?

| Operating pressure for DuPont membranes is 40-60 bar. Not quite as high as a pressure cleaner but coming close. Much more throughput is needed to keep the inside of the water-making tubes clean, if the flow isn't high enough the efficiency drops rapidly. |

| We are not using our resources right. How about when you go sit on your bum the chair squishes a liter of water out. When you get up the plunger and seat is pushed up again with a spring and re-filled with water. Sit down and it squishes the next... The pressure cylinder can be in the foot of the chair.
