Us Document Vessel Papers

What do the documentation papers look like. How would I tell if they are the real thing or not. Where can you get information on this and who issues them. Is this something to worry about or not.

A vessel can be documented either by the state where she lives, or by the federal government. If federal, documentation is issued by the Dept of Transportation, via the US Coast Guard.

Some insurance companies require vessels to be federally documented.
