Train ferries

In the early days of railway building in the USA, before bridges spanned the many waterways, passengers would change trains at each major river crossing. From 1879 in California, the Carquinex Straits were served by the Solano until 1930 when a raiway bridge was opened.

Journey back in time with me and view a train ferry such as we shall not see the like again.

And with all calculations and drawings done by hand, with no computers, CADs, Rhinos, pocket calculators etc.

I wonder how they saved their program, probably put sticky tape around the little beads so they wouldn't move.
