I would suggest that if you have the money to do this (right now is not a good time to be borrowing money, especially to be investing in boat manufacturing) you invest it in an existing company as an active partner and learn the business. All the rude jokes above are from people who know that this is one of the most difficult markets in the world to break into. The upfront costs are enormous and it takes years to break even. The only saving grace is that the luxury yacht business was less affected by the recession than the rest of the recreational boat biz. But you have to have:

Tons of money
A good design by a well known designer (spell that money)
environmental impact assessments galore
permits from everybody
An experienced staff and work force.
A huge and expensive marketing campaign.
Lots of luck
And did I mention tons of money

Starting a company and building on speculation is extremely risky. You are an unknown. Many of these companies were started by people who had been around the industry a long time, had established a reputation, and were a known quantity. Most had backers and buyers interested simply on the strength of their reputation. Who is going to give you 50 mil to build a yacht for them, seriously, when they can go to someone who has a good reputation and they know what they are getting?

You have none of this. that's reality. You would be starting from zero.

Again, learn the business first.

Yes, Yes, I can see how at first one may percieve that this Loco-Motive is indeed pulling a Lake and how it would be Logical to assume that.

However; If you Look Closer you will note thet the engine is Old 97 and as the story goes they were overdue for the incoming tide and ran right up the Marine Railways while docking a delivery of a Conasota Skooners, they diod not know that a Swabby had slicked up the rails using that New Brazzilion Bikini Wax and the rest is history.

Why did they build a wall under the train? This is why trains are always late.

How many millions make a brazzilion? That's a lot of wax! Did the loco jump or was it pushed? Did you mean conestoga wagon or prairie schooner?

I'll wire you the million if you first send me $10,000 USD for handling costs. Cash in small bills please.

Amateur

The pros do it by Western Union. And don't tell them it's for a real estate transaction or they'll charge you extra fees.

Yes, I really had someone try to run that scam on mom. Fortunately she asked me before she did anything.
