I thought U2 doing 'Ne me quitte pas' pretty much straight after the Paris atrocities was an excellent tribute to those lost through no fault of their own.

I'm pretty sure they heard about boats, maybe even played on a boat.

This is my lad Sonny accompanying his cousin once removed, Tabitha, (My brother's granddaughter) singing the Mariner's revenge by the Decemberists. The video and sound recording aren't great, (Sonny didn't really want me to share it) recorded on a little camera in our dark old church, but the youngsters perform very well. Only the 3rd time Sonny has played the song, and Tabitha can really sing. If you want to hear her let rip, skip to 3.35.

Thanks Hoyt, that's kind words. Its a joy to see them enjoying their music, and a real treat when Tabitha and her family come to stay, and to hear her. Her dad's not too shabby a singer, either:

    Very fine.

My voice would make a church choir disband.

As I write this, I am watching the horrific unfolding of events in Nice, France as reported by Sky News.

I guess France needs more gun control or less.

< the below text appears two times in the refrain lyrics of Comfortably Numb by Pink Floyd >

There is no pain you are receding

A distant ship smoke on the horizon

You are only coming through in waves

[IMG] Pink Floyd - Comfortably Numb - Division Bell Tour - Live at London's Earls Court - 20 October 1994 - Edited length version 9:51

Comfortably Numb (working title: The Doctor) is number 19 (out of 26) from the 1979 Pink Floyd album The Wall and is the longest track on the album with 6 minutes and 49 seconds.

The above 10-minute version of Comfortably Numb was performed at the Earls Court Exhibition Centre in London on 20 October 1994, as part of the The Division Bell Tour.

The above video, which was accompanying the release of the Pink Floyd album P·U·L·S·E, edited out approximately 1:20 minutes of the ending solo, whereas the original pay-per-view video showed the unedited version.

Below the Pink Floyd P·U·L·S·E album cover where the above version of Comfortably Numb is number 12 on Disk 2.

From Captain'Jo's album Si Loin Ailleurs, an homage to Fridtjof Nansen, a great explorer and scientist, and also a great humanitarian . . .

    P.S.

Sorry, just saw I've doubled post #248, so let me add Drone for this one, not about boats but played and sung by a Captain . . .
