Say what? I'm not distracting from the question; I'm meeting it head on. No matter how many parrots in a flock blindly echo each other, the US is not printing limitless amounts of paper, and repeating such nonsense endlessly doesn't make it true.

And while we're at it, we might as well clear some other nonsense up: Bernanke has never said 'we'll just print more money.'

I usually don't like to cut and paste entire news stories, columns or blogs. But this one completely addresses everything I would have said on the subject.

I'd be interested in some genuine rebuttals -- where people try to address the points made, rather than just screaming and running around with their hair on fire.

For an article which carries a copyright, if you've obtained express permission from the author to repost it, it's ok. However, if specific permission hasn't been obtained to repost it here, it's requested that a link to the original be posted instead to respect the author's copyright. Fair-use is generally considered to cover a few relevant lines quoted, but not an entire article.

Which is why I don't normally like to do it -- but I thought this was important enough to copy verbatim. I was careful to ensure that it was properly attributed, and a link provided.

I'll edit my post and replace the article with a link, although I'm afraid the result will be that most people won't read it.

People have short memories. Alan Greenspan was the guy who supported Clinton's President Clinton's deficit reduction plan, which included tax hikes and budget cuts.

Clinton left us with a budget surplus -- unlike conservative heroes Reagan and Bush.

A little careless of you to "lose" the actual text don`t you think....;)
BTW ....I think you are selling people a little short here ....I`m quite sure that they can recall as far back as August 7, 2011

I really have only one question for boatfan:

Why do you care? I don't care what fiscal policy is set in Australia... so why do you care about fiscal policy in my country? Are you heavily invested here or something?

    I don't get it either.

    "Tall poppy syndrome"?:

"Tall poppy syndrome (TPS) is a pejorative term primarily used in Australia, but also in New Zealand and other Anglosphere nations to describe a social phenomenon in which people of genuine merit are resented, attacked, cut down, or criticised because their talents or achievements elevate them above or distinguish them from their peers."

    Lilliputian complex....?

Seems to be a characteristic of some dirtball continent down south somewhere.
Maybe they are getting a bit addled from all that heat.

Have a nice cold one fellas and try not to get so worked up.

some of us really don't care what happens in the u s, it is the flow on effects that i have a problem with. it is a global economy and we are a part of it , so when the big players stuff up we all have a problem. but i find it hard to believe things are as bad as people on this site are saying.
