Snow pictures

I apologize to all for bombarding the random picture thread with my snow pictures. While we wait for the spring and boating season to start, here is even more snow and skiing. Last year I had my last ski tour the first weekend in June, so we have probably two more months with snow here, at least in the mountains. OK, here is from one week ago with a snow storm, and the last weekend with blue sky and more or less transformed snow after cold nights and warm days..

Where are the boats?!?

Those are gorgeous pictures of some nice nordic skiing, Raggi, but where are the boats?!?

Here is a video of the catamaran my wife and I lived aboard in Maine for a winter or two, heated by a wood stove:

We have no other home... only boats.

The closest I want to get to snow is eating icecream. I'm sure at those temperatures I would crystalize and shatter into pieces.

Snow is only enjoyable on two occasions; Christmas morning, with the kids playing outside and fire roaring and on post cards. That's it. I don't want to shovel it, I don't want to drive in it, I don't want to drive behind someone that doesn't know how to drive in it, I don't want to work in it, walk in it, eat it, regardless of color, I don't want to worry about how much my roof can support or if a boat cover is sufficient.

In general it's best left to those that have much thicker blood then I. To those folks, I graciously bow and accept your willingness to adsorb all the cold, so that I may enjoy my 70 (21 C) to 75 (24 C) degree winter afternoons. It's tough work too, I've had to mow my grass for over a month now and keeping up with the live oak leaves (which fall in the spring) is a pain in the butt, though with enough sun screen, tolerable.

And don't you just hate sitting by the pool with a cold beer and wishing it was snowing?

I am actually looking forward to some boating, bathing, biking etc, etc.
It's been winter here since October.
Since we have 8 months of winter and 4 months of (rather chilly) summer, it's better to enjoy whatever we have..

Those kids have a lot of courage hitting the jumps in with telemark/nordic skiis. Wow! I have a great appreciation for the skill that takes. I have been snowboarding since 1984, alpine skiing since just after I could walk.

It takes a lot of skill to land with nordic skis.

Yeah, some of the kids had some bad landings that really did hurt, but they herring boned up again for another try. Some of them did manage to do a "180" without falling. Me too
