Poor people, not much of a Christmas.....

Four Swedes rescued from yacht head to South Africa

The Associated Press
Published: 2006-12-16 07:40:06

CAPE TOWN, South Africa:
Four Swedes rescued from a sinking yacht. The yacht, Felicia, was on its way to Sao Paolo in Brazil when it started sinking 400 miles off the coast from a damaged hull on Friday.

The crew sent a distress signal which was picked up by South African maritime authorities. A South African air force plane was dispatched to help but then returned to base after a car carrier ship managed to pick up the crew some 400 nautical miles from Walvis Bay in Namibia. The car carrier will drop the Swedes off in Port Elizabeth in just over one week.

They were all reported to be uninjured, a warning was issued to ships in the area to be on the lookout for the yacht but there will be no attempts to salvage the stricken vessel.

I haven't been back to Sweden more than 4 times the last 14 years, still carry a Swedish passport though.

I feel sorry for the guys, celibrating New Year on an aircraft carrier, boat and dreams lost forever, hope it was ensured.

Happy New Year

While I feel sorry for the guys having lost their boat - at least they still have their lives. Think how much worse Christmas could have been.....

Agree, and being Swedish, they probably had their boat insured anyway.

Their boat and things is nothing to cry over, no one got hurt, that's the only thing that matters
