| The 'Bird of Paradise' shown by Guillermo was from after the Falklands war, actually happened off the coast of Portugal during a big NATO exercise. When the young pilot concerned (First job would you believe) got a wee bit lost from his task force! running out of fuel he spotted this vessel full of containers and landed on the top of em! Bloody good bit of flying considering! Imagine the poor watchkeepers face when this big bird landed on his deck! As a PS it's interesting to note that by the time the vessel concerned got into port and the 'plane was lifted off the accumulation of salt was such that the thing was a complete write off - pity really!  And to add to Ari's comments, yes they were 'birds of paradise' during the Falkland campaign, when we took back what was rightfully ours from the invasion forces of a foreign land (did you hear the one about the lad from London of duel nationality who was visiting his Grandparents in Argentina at the time! "volunteered" for the army (it's amazing what a large gentleman with a gun can do to your resolve) and ended up you know where! Another interesting face when the British Infantry man came up to this Argentine Trench and demanded its surrender "took your bloody time getting here!" was the comment, in broard cockney!   |

| Look like anti aircraft forts set up during the Second world war to defend the entrance to the Thames etc. Armed with a few guns and used to shoot at German aircraft or PT boats as they tried to get up to the East Coast cities to do nasty things! either that or they are martians! |
