The Summers Brothers Goldenrod that held the record for 45 (!) years. 1965 I think.

I just googled it. Four injected hemis must have sounded good. Very cool.

I have to wonder if salt conditions and available traction were one of the reasons they held the record so long.

During design and inventing Myark folding trailer barges in Auckland I would camp on a small island next to the Auckland harbor bridge.

    Hi Jeff

Its called Watchman Island that is a small sandstone island in the Waitemata Harbour of Auckland near the Auckland harbor Bridge

The island has special (or more precisely, undefined) legal status, as neither Auckland City Council, Auckland Regional Council or Ports of Auckland claim responsibility.

People with rules did not bother me there because no one owned the island, at high tide there is a very small beach that I would park my car and moored the Myark folding trailer barge just of shore.

A Rainbow Cuckoo Wasp. It might make getting stung not such a drag. The first time anyway.

This picture taken was at the Auckland harbor bridge boat ramp with angry police wanting to throw the book at me for towing the landing craft with car on top on the high way at 5 am in morning and they red stickered it, but when they left because it was on the highway and traffic getting busy I decided it was safer not to leave on side of highway and carried on to be delivered to the Furno fishing competition organizers who are urgently waiting and gave me their vehicle to tow the Myark Barge, when the police found out the police boat patrol operator was driving the Myark boat for he Furno organizers no charges are laid and never heard from them again.
Rule for one and a rule for another.
