How about this old girl? The last Edwardian Steamer in the world, SS Keewatin (1907) 336.5 ft. in length, 3,856 GRT.

She has all the amenities you'd need like, a Grand Staircase, the hand carved wood panels, hand painted Italian glass, and a Ballroom.

    Nice.

Do they take those moths that escape from wallets as currency?

You know, considering what "fashion" does to some people maybe we shouldn't be so surprised or shocked at what some of the out-there boat concepts look like?

"Out-there" can also mean forward thinking. I subscribe to the adage that failure is just the first step to success... and then there's just those that are just different :)

    Technical novelties are one thing.

Aesthetic "wonders" are another. These aren't hard to detect. Even if they become popular, as indeed there was that decade of "wedgy-bean" and "jelly-bean" car styles to mostly regret, later you wonder what were they thinking.

BTW, there is nothing really wrong with the aesthetics of that boat. Hacker's lovely three (Thunderbird, Posh, Tempo) were better / spot on perfect. Tunnel sterns aren't all that for novelty, though those forward chines make me wonder if they are "feature" or "wow, is this thing ever wet / hard to get up on plane, we gotta fix this quick!"

Aesthetics... in the eye of the beholder. I actually think it's a cool looking boat (why I kept the images).

The number of, and mixture of design choices, as well as material choices DID cause me to ask; "What were they thinking?" Was the purpose just to zig while everyone else was zagging? Was this to be the "next best, greatest thing" or a test bed? Was the combination of edgy choices due to marketing or performance?.....

At any rate this boat progressed from someone's concept to the point of being built. I imagine more than a few lessons were learned and there's no question that this design is an odd duck that stands "out-there" for both it's aesthetics and technical choices.

Aestetics are in the eye of the beholder.
The Bootlegger could have been described as "jelly-bean" design but is generally admired.

This is about a Freak Show in a circus in New York, 12 April 1930, and not exactly about smoking a pipe.

I think she's mostly sucking false air as she's unable to close her lips around the extended mouthpiece.

P.S. - The history of the Freak Show

A "sinker" is better than a "stinker"
