But if it weren't for the fact that it says Smith & Wesson right on the barrel, I'd swear he copied a Ruger instead of an S&W. On the other hand, it's quite possible some of the Rugers I've seen copied a classic S&W design I'm not familiar with.... I don't claim to be a firearms expert.
I asked my friend Google and she said it might be a Smith & Wesson Model 29, 4" barrel.

Below Smith & Wesson Model 29, 8⅜" & 4" barrel -- 6" & 10⅝" barrel not shown here.

The friend also gave me a picture of the other side of the mailbox.

Guess the picture top is blurred to remove the view of the house.

Reading the S & W 29 page on Wiki (my other friend) I guess ‘‘44 MAGNUM’’ on this side of the barrel means she is chambered for the .44 Magnum cartridge.

Guess my friends made me a firearms expert . . .

What bothers me is that the top of the butt is different, so is it right . . ? ?

Cheers,
Angel

Regardless of who's right, it's a wonderful piece of work.

Years ago there was a guy in Lake Havasu, Arizona who built custom rural mailboxes. If you were a carpenter, you could order one that looked like a hammer. For plumbers he'd build one that resembled a pipe wrench, etc.

I don't know what ever happened to him, but I hope he got rich.

The grip is different. This is OK because many different styles are available.

Mid winter has me warming to which sailplane I will be picking up for the spring.

Appleton's aging warehouse! As close as you can get to heaven and still be alive!
