Boatbuilding in the Dominican Republic, a few weeks before Baby Doc turned off all the electricity in the country and sent his Nacionals in to confiscate all the ballot boxes because the vote wasn't going his way.

SSK Dolphin Class attack submarine
http://www.israeli-weapons.com/weapo...n/Dolphin.html

Quote:
Three 1,925 ton Type 800 Dolphin class submarines have been built in German shipyards for the Israel Navy. Modern submarines with the most advanced sailing and combat systems in the world, they combine extensive sophistication with very easy operation. The purpose of these submarines is to enable the Israel Navy to meet all the tasks faced in the Mediterranean Sea in the 21st century. The submarines cost $320 million each, and are twice as big as the aging Gal-class submarines that the Israeli navy has relied on to date.

Not so crazy. The idea already exists since a long time ago (attached photo is from 1999) and hundreds of thousands of powered paragliders are at work the world around. Some of them mount wheels and are for two or even three users. And they are even authomated (http://www.atairaerospace.com/uav/)

The only innovation here are those 'lentil wheels' which's main (if at all!) benefit, from my point of view, is the ability to water land (but this could be also achieved with a pair of hulls hydroplane stile)

Cheers.

Yep, the concept has been around.

My problem with this version is the landing pods which seem to have undergone some development between the early drawings and the craft sitting on the beech.

I strongly favor a hovercraft type landing system or a rubber raft both which may absorb impact shock and operate over various landing surfaces.

An alternative:

Its the US navy of course!! Or is it the SA navy? Just routine every day stuff --pilot error. pressing wrong buttons and that sort of thing.

Theres a lot of switches in those things!!

Interesting photographs actually in the light of a recent enquirey in to the deaths of British personel mistaken for an enemy vehicle by the US Marines. There was no blame being proportioned but the enquirey was to satisfy certain question for the desesed family. Apparantly the US marines would not attend the enquirey or allow the statement of various Marines to be read out explaining what happened.

This should put to rest the controversy of seaworthiness of light displacement craft.
