"... by lengthening the wheelbase (even just a little), the car's tendency to snap oversteer (due to sudden throttle-lift or weight transfer or bump-steer under compression during cornering) greatly decreased, hence cornering stability increases as well as rear grip level." (exerpt from a discussion of sports car chassis tuning)

That's the Sprite, Brian. The MG Midget was a near twin, made after the MK1 "bugeye" Sprite became a big seller (relatively, for a tiny stripped down sports car).

By 1958, MG was under the British Motor Corporation roof with Austin-Healey and producing the original A-H Sprite at its Abingdon factory. The “bugeye” proved so successful, especially in the U.S., that BMC decided to restyle it for 1961 and sell it in a second version as a new Midget.
Through 1971, the Sprite and Midget were built side-by-side as fraternal twins differing only in badges, grilles, and minor trim and equipment. The Midget then carried on alone through 1979.

Quite popular over here too with a lot of innovative heart transplants after the style of the sunbeam tiger but with the rover and other alloy power plants - excellent for hill-climbs and gymkhana events. I had a tiger in Penang, Malaysia. excellent fun and grunt... (always had great difficulty in removing a reappearing brown stain in the passenger seat?)

Mono vs multi capsize debate reminds me of the unending diesel vs gas engine maintenance debate.

Sail: Monos capsize more easily in extreme seas, but they recover upright; multis resist capsizing more, but when they go over, they don't recover.

Engines: Gasoline engines require more frequent maintenance and repairs; diesels require much less frequent maintenance and repairs, but when they do its verrry costly.
