View looking forward in Gipsy Moth IV, showing the ribs in place and starboard section of the main bulkhead which has been replaced. The repair work to Gipsy Moth IV is moving forward at a blistering pace. The reskinning of Gipsy Moth IV is the major activity currently underway in the temporary repair facility at the Emirates Team New Zealand base in Auckland.

Yes!!!!...strong boat

“At 13.00 hrs (Pacific Time) Gipsy Moth was Rescued from the reef where she had lain for 6 days. The first phone call came in from Captain Burt Kleijwet to say that Gipsy Moth IV was afloat once more. She had slipped gently into the water guided by the shore team whilst being pulled gently by the tug. The rescue team had organized some divers who went down to check her underwater profile and Richard Baggett checked her for leaks. All was well … “

Wellydeckhand, I've never seen anything like that before - nice find. My wife said where is that, I said read what he wrote - then we both said; where is that? We looked it up and said Ohhhhhhhh.

How far are those buildings from you?

Are there Tigers on the island?

Really cool.

Ok I owe some brief explaination.

The dayak are well acustom to forest missionary, especially boiled one...... but then it was the beginning of christianity coming to Borneo, you really need patriot evangalist.

The Fort in the deep jungle use to be White Raja (Brooks)of British Colony until they retreat to Malaysia.......... from Apo Kayan (Long Nawang).

I am glued to the notebook and forum but have known to travel in a burst of moment........ My travel to this particular village took me 11 hours in part road and part gravel..........

This particular village is a relocation of three Kayan Dayaks into one major village.... MIAO BARU. This powerful village of 3500+ life have areal of plantation land that I acquired and sold to the end user.Good money. My trip was 2 days max because of my worries that the forum might miss me.

The art is strange and tribal, no other people can claim the same art outside of Borneo.( Design wise)

They believe like star that connected to other star through brances and swirl of power and other significant symbol.

They have no permanent building as they favour log houses.... wat a waste yes?

But they do have a terracotta called Gunung Kombeng with cave and mysterious statue dotted within but recent plunder by tourist by taking the head of the buddah statue........

There is not sign of tiger but Lynx ...... 2 version, big and cute, they have been known to attack if provoke and connered but most of the time run away.

The rare extinct is the Rhino of Borneo........ surposely have the longest horn.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

To only close member and familiar people of the forum, I will be your humble host if you need of travel arise in this part of the strange world......... without the french dressing of course

The main hall room is made out of lumber log size 80+ in diameter...... it is done by thousand of dayak GOTONG ROYONG...... meaning free community service

Then the roof and pillar were cut in dayak fashion....... it took time as material are hull through the river and later brought up to land and pull to the location, everything is done manually.

I was there in Miao Baru when it was the year 1996............ Now I can use cellphone in the area with limited coverage............ great improvement.

Now Wahau is the estate of major headhunter community.......... Most of the guys like to be asked for lunch........... your call.

longliner,

The last time I was there was about 25 years ago. I've seen poverty -- that was not poverty. All indications are there has been great improvement since I was last there. Link me to a single case of death by starvation in Appalachia -- or anywhere in the US -- that was not a result of criminal negligence or stupidity. Just one.
