Apparently they have similar problems with Moose in Canada, makes Roos look like child's play.

We most certainly do have similar problems with moose up here. They stand around two metres high at the shoulder and weigh half a tonne each. An impact at eighty km/h will turn any passenger vehicle (and often its crew) into a write-off and can do fifty grand worth of damage to an 18-wheeler.
Deer are worse, though.... at least moose usually have the good sense to not run out into traffic.

Nah... gime a 150 kg Roo that wants to knock my lights out for denting his fender any day. Pushing my passanger into the backseat using a half tonne beast just don't seem polite!

Feral camels pose any road hazard problems Down Under? That'd be more like a moose.

Only in the outback, and the ground is so level there they are readily visible from miles away. Not too many feral camels in the cities, though I have seen some two legged ones at times.

Possibly a few "ferals" out Nimbin way - these ones don't eat the grass they smoke it or make flour out of the seeds for cookies...

The dromedary type seem to keep their distance from the 2 legged sort - I am advised it may be something to do with the urban smell?

Does this make a good "word picture" for you Charlie?... Picture link http://www.ozoutback.com.au/postcard...rley/index.htm

Here for some "domesticated" camels - 4 legged - http://www.ozoutback.com.au/postcard...ings/index.htm

few years back this roo bounded out of the bush right under my wheels, we were doing 70mph, was a bit of a shock to say the least, we managed to limp into town, patch up the cooling and head home, 6000 dollars damage, roos have no road sense, none at all, they can not seem to sense danger, but neither can horses and cattle Emus are weird, they run along side the car
i have heard, and mean just (heard) that long distance truckers used to run over the native people, , nothin' would sprise me
