Post #1000 - and farewell to all....

It took me six years to get to this milestone whereby others done it in a short time. Perhaps I am bit slow

Nevertheless, every product has a sell by date and I think my number came up. I shared the bit I had with others, all on record now and a search bottom away, had my disputes and made a lot of friends.
This forum was like a second home for me, but now that I'm retired, I want to move on and spend time left in my cycle doing things I want to do before its time for lights out.

Time at my age (still relative young at 54) is at premium and one must make the most of its that's left. Mid 50's to 60 by statistics are worrisome years for SA males - just walk through graveyards here - thereafter one's innings looks better to survive quite a bit longer.

I do not want to use this quality time left arguing with persons that you cannot debate with on forums, or to be attack at places all over on the internet, usually by the same sordid individual(s) hence my leave for absence. I would rather spend my time constructively forward from now.

My legacy as a direct result of this grand forum is my "Steel Boatbuilding" webpage that can speak on my behalf and want to thank Jarl for making hosting available for free and setting it up for all. You are indeed a fine gentleman.

Where to from here?

1. Spend time with my grandson and kits, OK, the missus as well.

2. Short term, finish my Lotus 7 replica I started.

3. Fishing, fishing fishing

4. Small GRP projects I do from home.

5. Traveling

And then: Im gonna add an origami page on my website compiled solely of quotes, answers, remarks etc etc from forums on the internet especially made to and by a certain individual.
I need a joke page and humor on my webpage.

Of course I will still have a peek whats going on from time to time but will not post again - perhaps in a few years time. Do not even provoke me respond, that will not work either

Wynand over and out

Hi Wynand,

You've made 1055 posts* here (till now) of which 999 in the 'Official Forums' and 56 in the 'Open Discussion Forums' (the latter are not counted in the register you see on the regular forum pages).

So you have to make one more post in the 'Official Forums' to make it a thousand. Looking forward for that . . .

Thanks for all you have posted..!! Google will help many to benefit from it in the future!

And always welcome to come back if and when ever you want to do so!

Have a good time doing the things you've mentioned. Fare Well..!!

Regards,
Angel

Wynand, may God bless you and give you many more enjoyable years.
I have learned a lot from your postings, having not yet read all 999 but maybe will get around to them before my lights go out.
Every one is well put and I must say I really enjoy the "Where Is This" thread. Certain other steel boat builders can only dream of acheiving what you have done. Others can't even dream it.
Though we never met, I consider you a friend for sharing so much wisdom.

Be happy.

Wynand, since we don't want to miss you here, I have asked Jeff to halt your posting register at 999 for two more years, so keep on struggling for number 1000...............!

Farewell my Friend!

It was a pleasure and honour to share thoughts, expertise and opinions with you, what else can I say, when a friend leaves the parlour.......

A severe loss.

No so fast my friend. You have now a thousand responsibility to continue to share with us you knowledge, to inspire us and to be here when we are in a pickle about some problem.
And you want to go away for good?
Well just kidding, I understand, some thing are more important than going to the forum.
Take care of your family, have a nice souvenir of your long membership in the forum, and forget the bad moment.
Take care of you Lotus, and mostly have fun, a lot of fun.
You will be miss.
Daniel
