Pirates of the Caribbean

A lot of money was spent promoting that movie using a very expensive sailing boat, did they actually get return on their investment?

How many of you did actually see the film because of that?

Well Mikey me mate, the third one is just opening here this weekend.

Can't see them making 3 if they weren't profitable.

I have read that when they make a movie they just cut even in the theatres, the DVD sales and merchandising then reaps the profit.

With these movies, it would be pretty hard to tell what's real and what's computer generated.

I think Johnny Depp is real.

Sure they made money but was it because of the sailing boat advertizing?

Pirates of the Caribbean

Just heard ABC (Australia) film critic say that 'Pirates II' has so far made US$1billion. And they estimate 'Pirates II' will equal if not beat it....

Egad. Number 2 had me irritated enough at the end.... now I just HAVE to spend another $12 (yes, that's what a movie costs up here) to see 3, gotta find out just what happens next....
Did sponsoring the VO 70 have anything to do with the franchise's success? Maybe. To be honest I don't really care if there's a connection or not. Watching the boat lead the fleet, trail the fleet, fall apart, get repaired, etc. was fun. The movies were fun. And anything that supports sailing is always good, right folks?

its probably a good movie to watch,,,I have not seen it ,,hollywood ,portrays pirates as swashbuckeling heros with gold earings and teeth,,,,the real pirates are smuggeling cocaine into your countrys and destroying our youth ,,they ride in 60 ft ciggerette boats that do 70 knots ,,and fly airplanes,at 40 ft I would venture to say that at about 80% of the people that paid to see the movie ,have no idea about boats,,,just my chirp,,,longliner

Longliner buddy where's the romance in your soul? Aren't all pirates swashbuckling 'ero's! It's an adventure story not a documentary (there again our friend Jack Frost probably thinks it is!)
