I was in a canoe when one of those cop boat belted by me much closer and making far more wash than any other power boat on the lake even the yahoos. It's what they seem to do.The person in the water had probably been knocked in by their wash.

Clarification: they had no reason to pass that close. There was no emergency anywhere close to me. I was in the mouth of an inlet about a half-mile or more wide. They came up from out of sight on the lake side and continued down the center of the inlet out of sight. Absolutely no reason to pass that close. Other boats were going as fast that day and passed 10x further, a gesture of respect for a human-powerd boat doing maybe 4 kn. The police boat, like typical police boats, was built high to provide good visibility, they could see much farther than the other boats that gave me more clearance.

I had a nasty encounter with a boat carrying a couple of arrogant uniformed sheriff's deputies on a lake about ten years ago. It came arcing out from the shore, and I maintained course and speed until I could see which way it was headed. When it became apparent I slowed down and veered off to run parallel to its course, leaving about 200 yards of clearance between us (although I was going quite a bit slower).

Apparently that wasn't good enough. They swung around and came charging up to me. One of them asked, "do you own a copy of the rules of the road?" When I answered yes, he said, "then I suggest you read the ******* thing!' He spent the next few minutes insulting and chewing on me, and doing everything he could to goad me into back-talking him. But I was with the wife and kids and wasn't going to play; I just shut up and looked at him until he ran down. Eventually he gave up or got it out of his system, and they went away.

Apparently he believed that the instant I saw their boat I should have turned tail and fled, without waiting to see which piece of the lake they wanted.

A police boat went roaring by me about 20 feet to my port side on Saturday in a no wake zone on the Hillsborough River. He seemed to be in a hurry but no lights or sirens were going. I later heard he was responding to a person in the water call.

During the first 45 seconds of the vid... the tug isn't in contact with the vessel and yet the thrust clearly shows that it is directing the stern right into the docks. There were no lookouts that I could see so the Idiot behind the wheel is the one whose wallet should suffer.

Mechanical difficulties sounds right. I wonder if those were the real sounds- crunch, crunch,crunch... you'd think there would have been a lot of hollering.

The guy did just as much damage pulling away from the dock as going in. I guess he had a schedule to keep.

I noticed the ship was in reverse also. But, it is less painful for a bad captain to blame everything on the tug .... They should have dropped anchor, figured out where they were in everything, and then powered forward.

Instead it looked like he was in a hurry, went the wrong direction, decided to back up until he could turn around and took off.

And he thought he wasn't on film.

Oh, the great the right to bear arms ....

    :D

Humm, contradiction in términos, nut behind the wheel being loose and tight at the same time, it looks most dangerous to me . . ! !

In this case 'tight' means drunk.

Hey Sam thanks [IMG], but this one I already knew, that's why I said ‘‘it looks most dangerous to me’’ and posted a ‘‘ = Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)’’ emoticon behind the ‘‘Cheers’’

    Cheers,
