Old Boat No Title

Hello guys have i got a good one here!! Back in 1967 my dad got a boat from this guy for doing some work for him. not long after that the guy died, heres the good part .... The boat didnt come with a title but the trailer did. Now almost 4o years later id like to find out how i can get or if i can get a title to it? Can anyone help out ?????

Go to a cheap title place and tell them u lost it... if u have insuarance it will be easier..
Is the trailors title on youalls name?

Making a false statement can get you in trouble. If you have a bill of sale you should be able to get a title. Depending on what State you live they may not require a title but only registration. Also, most likely they were not titles for boats in '67.

ok i did alittle digging lastnight and found what i think is the vin #700237 this number is the only thing in can find on the boat. Now im a car guy and i know that you can get the year from the 7th letter in the vin of a car. So how can i find out the year of this boat, Also i think it is a a old sears boat as well. Here in missouri just like anyother state there are the numbers on the side of the boat,is there anyway to trace them?

The boat is old enough that the numbers don't indicate the year. You can go to the DMV or whoever registers boats in your state and track down the last owner with the registration number.
