The easy fix for that is to not buy Chinese produce.

Modular watercraft that changes to sail, row or paddle & fits in a small car. Soon to have a new pedal drive.

What is an Expandacraft? Well, a better question is, what do you want your Expandacraft to be? It’s simple really. Take the two interlocking modular hull sections and make a set of hulls as long as you need for your perfect boat. You can purchase a readymade kit for Sail, Row, pedal, paddle or power from Expandacraft or design and build your own boat using our modular hulls and other components. The options are endless.

Expandacraft offers versatility, storability and affordability with a revolutionary product unlike anything else. If you have a modular set of hulls which can transform into several different boats, then you don’t need to buy and store several individual boats. You may need a 12 ft. kayak style craft one day and a 16 ft motorized pontoon boat or sailboat the next. With Expandacraft, you can have it all and store it in a closet when you’re done.

I think you got this backwards. I can find a lot of articles on making plastic from rice waste, but none about making rice from plastic.

Although plastic rice wouldn't be too far off from the mud cakes that are sold in Haiti to allay hunger.

When I was young the horizons were clear, now I don't think there's hardly anyplace on Earth where the horizon isn't a yellowish smudge.

Overfishing and pollution have so depleted China's own fishery resources that in some places -- including the East China Sea -- there are virtually "no fish" left, according to reports in Chinese state media last week.

    http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/...55-11e6-b4d8-33e931b5a26d-20160821-story.html

That's a frightening prospect for an increasingly hungry country: China accounted for 35 percent of the world's seafaood consumption in 2015. Seeking catches further afield -- including in Indonesian waters -- isn't really a solution; fish stocks in the disputed South China Sea have themselves fallen by as much as 95 percent from 1950s levels.

The economic impact has been extraordinary. Between 1979 and 2013, China's fleet of motorized fishing vessels grew from 55,225 to 694,905 boats, while the number of people employed in the fishing industry exploded from 2.25 million to more than 14 million. Meanwhile, the average fisherman's income increased from around $15 per month to nearly $2,000 per month. Today, the fishing industry generates more than $260 billion annually, accounting for around 3 percent of Chinese GDP.

Blame for this state of affairs falls on both the fishing industry and the government, which spent $6.5 billion on fisheries subsidies in 2013 alone. Nearly all of that money paid for cheap fuel that allowed and arguably encouraged Chinese fishermen to venture further from shore, often into the comparatively un-plundered exclusive economic zones of countries such as Indonesia.

The plastic is bad enough, but the fact that 29 whales died at one time makes me think something else killed them.

UFLOAT- The first USCG approved 'upside down' life jacket !

    https://www.kickstarter.com/project...scg-approved-upside-down-life-ja?ref=category

Ok- so many of us have used the 'upside down' life jacket as the best way to hang out in the water, and it has been the best solution until NOW ! The UFLOAT is the first ever and only United States Coast Guard approved 'upside down' life jacket or personal flotation device. One Hundred times (100x) better than a noodle, fifty times (50x) better than a raft, the UFLOAT actually fits right and is COMFORTABLE when you wear it. Traditional life jackets never fit right, that's why we never wear them! We are raising funds so we can mass manufacture the product to drive the cost down, and then offer the product to the public at a much better price point
