| need some advice I just bought a 90 model jaws power boat I have never owned or driven a boat like this. I have driven jet, v-drives,and bass boats into the mid 90's mph range but this boat is WAY different. It has hydralic K-planes on the rear. My question is should I be using the k-planes to obtain top speed or the trim I was told that the K-planes were to fine tune the boat at top speeds. All they seem to do to me is level the boat at cruising speeds. Once I get a about 3/4 throttle the boat levels out at just under 1/4 trim So what is the purpose of the tabs? Also when the tabs are at neutral position will the boat hit top speed at WOT like a bass boat? Any info would be great help. |

| Tabs serve several purposes. When coming onto plane: Tabs down, drives trimmed in. This gives maximum lift at the stern to help keep the bow down and to bring the boat on plane faster. (Once you're on plane, raise them to the appropriate position for your intended cruising speed.) When cruising slowly: Tabs down a bit will reduce minimum planing speed and make the boat easier to control, with a more level ride. When planing, with a crosswind: You have to steer into the wind to keep the boat on course; drop the windward tab a bit to keep the boat level. (Drives are ALWAYS at the same trim level, tabs can be at different levels.) In heavy chop: Tabs down a couple of degrees, moving the entry point forward for a smoother ride and better control. In smooth water: Typical running condition has tabs level with the hull bottom. -Adapted from advice originally written by Reggie Fountain-
