| Miami Beach, FL ? I’ll be in the Miami Beach area the last week of March thru April fools day. The prime goal is to forget about the snow for a week. I didn’t pick the destination, but now that it has been established, is there any boat related points of interest that I should try to see. Gary ![]() |

| Miami Beside walking marinas, try going to the Barnacle in Coconut Grove. It was the house of Commadore Ralph Monroe, Florida Pioneer and Yacht Designer (Presto-type sharpies). They have a replica of his boathouse, and his house is really interesting. Maybe go out on Key Biscayne and check out the Cape Florida Lighthouse. The Richard Bertram operation is down there near the airport maybe you could wrangle a tour. Crook and Crook is also in Coconut Grove (Don't let the name scare you too much, there are worse crooks). They have all manner of stuff boat and fishing related. I heard they only did mail order now or something you may want to check that out. If you make it up to Fort Lauderdale, go to Sailorman, 350 East State Road 84. It has new and used marine stuff of all kinds. State Road 84 is an exit now known as Marina Road or some such Sailorman is East of Route 95 and West of Route 1. Also in Fort Lauderdale is Bluewater Nautical Books and Charts near the Publix (grocery) on 17th Street Causeway. The best thing to me down there is Biscayne Bay, I would try to get out on that in a boat. I grew up down there and know the area, if you want any information about eating or bailbondsmen let me know. Have some cuban coffee and some fun for me!

| Thanks Ed. Is there some where I can sip Cuban coffee and watch the boats go past? Will, if I had some real money for vacation, I would be going down under. ![]() Gary |

| coffee and boats in South Florida You can sit at Bayside (Route 1 downtown), it is a bit dolled up for my taste but you can get a good coffee or cocktail in there and watch what we refer to as the "ditch boats" ply the intercoastal. Also cross over from Miami Beach to downtown on the Venitian Casuseway, it crosses a chain of small populated islands and ther is a little park you can walk and sit in and look at what goes by and is moored in that little lagoon. If you go up to Dania, there is a place called Harbour Towne Marina which has a resturant (not very $$$) where you sit outside on the Dania Cut-off canal and see alot of boats of all sizes go by, and can look at some commercial operations across the canal. That is an extremely pleasant place, a bit hard to find but worth it. It is somewhere behind Dania Jai-Alai. I am pretty hot to get down to Austrailia myself. Ed
