| Large cutter - 18 century On Feb 14 1779, Captain Cook was killed when he had tried to retrieve the Discovery's large cutter which had been submerged the previous night at it's buoy (to stop the timbers from shrinking - apparently a standard practise) and had gone missing through the night of the 13th. One theory is that it was taken for the iron/metal used in the cutter's construction. I am looking to find someone who can describe the cutter in particular or where I can get details of it and also what metal/iron if any would be used in its construction |
