Kuwait tender call or scam

Another possible scam from Kuwait this time. A set of documents claiming to be 'Pre-qualification' are in circulation with RFT call to design/build/supply 19 assorted vessels for Ports or Navy.

Documents have no government crest or headers etc but did include a clause saying interested parties would have to purchase non refundable application forms.....which about sums it up the value of these particular papers.

Interesting strategy... purchase application forms.

P.S. Should we start charging visitors for coffee, in our office?

I dunno, a lot of universities have an application fee, frequently around $200, to be considered. A lot of other things these days (Passport fees, TWIC fees, etc) require you to pay up front and you're out if it doesn't go through for some reason.

Probably a scam, but not necessarily one.

1st cup free but extra charge for for Idle "chit chat"

An old mate had this written on the wall of his workshop in the 1980s, in those days we would charge for quotes for " unqualified enquiries" ......... plenty of big talk back in the day.

Now, we just like to have fun!

In Italy, it is a common practice that the applicant has to pay a caution when applying to a public tender. In case he doesn't win the tender and his paperwork was regular, he gets back the money. If he screwed something with his application, bye-bye money.

Don't know if we are talking about the same procedure here...

The issue that rings my alarms is the documents sent me demand huge amounts of very detailed company info, history, financial, holdings etc much more than even silly Australian bureaucracy requires for military ship tenders.

I always reply that we do not release confidential company information, instead send me their SOR, company credientials, copy of their agency/government agreement plus copy of passport.

My objection/request gets ignored instead I get another desperate type plea to provide the info. Everything about the packages have a lack of professionalism normally associated with Government procurement
