Izusu Marine diesels

Does anyone have any knowledge of Izusu marine diesel engines? Looking for feedback as I'm considering purchase of a boat with a 210hp Izusu?

Pro's or Cons welcomed.

Thanks,
Mark

From experience in this country

Providing its a marinized 'industrial engine' they are excellent power plants in a boat with extremely high reliability and good build quality.

have a c240 with 22000hrs in a 20kw genset. never misses a beat and other than one valve grind, one fresh water pump oil and filters hasnt had any faults. goes through raw water pump seals every couple of thousand hours though.

The quality of the marinizartion is KEY.

Beware of really "cheap" components.

For some unknown reasons, Isuzu engines are quite expensive to fix in my country. How about elsewhere?

Isuzu-Starrett Marinized

Hello all,
I wanted to share some thoughts about the ISUZU Marine engine. I have a ferro Cement 32' trawler. She has a 89 C240-P27-isuzu engine and Paragon tranny. These engines are Hard as heck to Kill. I have owned this boat for 15 Years. I have had it overhauled Once. I have had to overhaul the tranny Once myself. The engine can be left alone for a year and it will fire back up!! She has never stranded me due to engine failure. The tranny is ok..
I have a manual for the engine and I have specs for the starrett/isuzu conversion. This is a C240. I will be happy to share any information I with anyone that has a Isuzu marine engine. I have some resources for parts also for the engine and for the Paragon Transmission, both of which I have manuals for..VINCE@ITAERO.COM
