International Bathtub Racing

I just thought I'd beat the drum a little, considering that there's only 328 days left untill the next official race. That should give all of you, my esteemed collegues, a chance to come up with some hot, competetive entries. This is an annual race series that has been for about 36 years and has attracted competitors and media spectators from around the world.

No, this is not a joke.

They used to hold bathtub racing here in Tassie as well - an annual event that was part of the Royal Hobart Regatta. Alas, like so many other parts of "Regatta day" (the fishing boat races for example) they are now consigned to the history books.
Perhaps a revival is something to be suggested to the organisers.....

Of course, the best tubs for extended cruising are the older ones, which incorporate the "claw-foot passive stabilizers". (Nyuk! nyuk! nyuk! )

I do recall reading of this, or a similar event, in one of the numerous boat mags I read each month. Most clever indeed!
