I'm angry today

Today my wife yelled at me about dirty dishes in the sink.
God! that's all I need.
Last week I quit my lousy job.
It took me a day to get another job at a more progressive company. I've climbed back out of the fire and into the frying pan again.

Hey, if a boss wants to pay his employees as little as they'll tolerate working for, I say "Fine!"

I don't have to trouble myself to even complain! I can just get a job elsewhere.

If a boss wants to cut back an emplyees hours and then interfere with an employees legitimate Employment Insurance claim, I say "Fine!" Word-of-mouth is a powerful thing. Your heartwarming concern for your so-called "vital" staff, overwhelms me with nausea.

What is upsetting most is that the ...dirty...guy... was making a profit stealing from the good people at AutoDesk..for years. I put a damned quick stop to that! I wonder if he teaches his children that? "It's Okay to steal if you make a good profit".

God forbid someone does it to him!! I quite willingly signed a confidentiality agreement, at his request, to keep ME from ripping off his recycled-half-baked-lousy ideas. Like I'd want to!

And he has the unmittigated gall to be angry with me for quitting in disgust! Has the gall to comment that he doesn't trust me! That he thinks I'm "up to something"! What? Got something to hide?

I get the feeling that it's a natural thing for people to worry that someone will do to them, the bad things that they would not have a problem doing to others.

People like that presumably don't have any understanding of integrity, fidelity, dignity, decency or respect. They wouldn't furnish others with it (either because they are jealous of such things, or because they simply can't be bothered) and absolutely don't engender it from others. Any suggestion of loyalty to that (person?) is laughable. >
My contribution went beyond designing good products. I worked hard to help build an efficient, cost effective shop. A technologically advanced manufacturing facility. Did I get a bonus? Did I get a raise in two damned years? I'll tell you what I got, redundant!

I'm still angry today, but I'm glad I've salvaged my self-respect. I'm going to sit in front of the fish tank now and watch the Neon Tetras for a while.

That sounds about like most jobs I've had so you're not alone. That's the appeal of self employment!!!

Only the greediest of owners and workers disagree with you. The rest of us are treated the same way as you have been. Welcome home.

Yeah, that's why 25 years before I reached retirement age, I started my own small business. I'm "sort of" retired now, just picking up the odd job. And based on the way most companies treat their "soon to retire" employees, I didn't lose anything in pension plans. I did (and do) enjoy my work. I sleep well, don't need any "attitude adjustment" medications, and am able to "stop and smell the flowers".

Pretty sure most of us can empathize, Thunderhead. By all means, vent. Makes me feel better when I'm like that.... like right now, at 1:15 am, with 4 hours of work still to be done before tomorrow for some jerk who's stoned half the time, none of which has much point to it, all of which is boring as hell, hence I'm online posting on forums.... ok, i'll stop while I'm ahead....

Actually, Roman vulgate. And I'm sure some of you "Members of the Empire" can supply the translation (having gone, of course, to the "right" schools and therefore studied Latin for 4 years).

You're right of course Artemis - but those English 'b*stards' have been grinding us under for centuries... and it was three years - plus three years for Classical Greek. (and I had to learn English first...)

Short daylength?

There a weird bunch them Canuks!

I reckon it's lack a sunlight - must be winter eh thunderhead?

Best solution Thunderhead - is escape the madness of winter in BC and go downunder, for 6 months a year to follow the sun during the northern winter.

Course - the alternatives to just keep swallowing the happy pills!

I feel for ya!

I've been self employed for 15 years. 6 of those years I had between 3 and 10 employees. Never made a dime! Since then I work with 1 partner and we make a decent living. All you guys bitching about employers should try it sometime, and know I don't mean try bitching cuz that's all you ever seem to do!

"Nil illigitami carborundum" I think it says " Don't let the bastards wear you down". We have a painting of a man sitting on a bench in a cemetary in the bleakest part of winter, looking about as low as you can get. On the back of the stone bench is engraved " SIC TRANSIT GLORIA MUNDI". Can anyone tell me what language it is and what it means? Sam
