How We Class Different Pirate and tell the difference... anything on pirate

Well... There is a thread on dealing on pirate I know. Interestingly, a huge amount of boat friends tell me pirate used to be charter by govenment to destroy lucarative trade route and political mean for indirect assualt on known water...

Other pirate are convicts escape or mutiny and change behaviour due to bad handling and got the hang of killing govt. that hunt them.

While smuggler might not seem as a kinda pirate but the job seem to be within the job discription of pirate...

It is always Territorial , fame and the smell of gold , YES?

Here is a thread to class them all memate and tell the world the truth on pirate less they be forgotten and sink to the bottom of the forum murky brime.

See if ye typing is better than ye rum mate, savvy .

Code of Conduct on a Pirate Ship:
The rules of each pirate captain were clearly stated to each member of the crew. There was little ambiguity about acceptable behavior among pirates on a typical pirate ship. When a rule was breached, the crew was often without pity or remorse in punishing a guilty crew member. Although in cases of particularly useful pirates such as skillful fighters, exceptions were inevitably made. Below, a sample code of conduct is provided. Outlined below is a sample.

Sample Code of Conduct:

* Every man shall obey civil Command; the Captain shall have one full share and a half in all Prizes; the Master, Carpenter, Boatswain and Gunner shall have one Share and quarter.

* If any man shall offer to run away, or keep any Secret from the Company, he shall be marroon'd with one Bottle of Powder, one Bottle of Water, one small Arm and shot.

* If any Many shall steel any Thing in the Company, or game, to the Value of a Piece of Eight, he shall be marroon'd or shot.

* If at any Time we should meet another Marrooner (that is Pyrate) that Man that shall sign his Articles without the Consent of our Company, shall suffer such Punishment as the Captain and Company shall think fit.

* That Man that shall strike another whilst these Articles are in force, shall receive Mose's Law (that is 40 stripes lacking one) on the bare Back.

* That Man that shall snap his Arms, or smoak Tobacco in the Hold, without a cap to his Pipe, or carry a Candle lighted without a Lanthorn, shall suffer the same Punishment as in the former Article.

* That Man that shall not keep his Arms clean, fit for an Engagement, or neglect his Business, shall be cut off from his Share, and suffer such other Punishment as the Captain and the Company shall think fit.

* If any Man shall lose a Joint in time of an Engagement he shall have 400 pieces of Eight; if a limb 800.

* If at any time you meet with a prudent Woman, that Man that offers to meddle with her, without her Consent, shall suffer present Death.

Jack that were "Wellydeckhand" an extremely strange cove if every there one! Hails from those wee islands to the south of 'ee Indonesia - but even they had difficulty with him - used to ramble worse than what I does at times then he went off on one using several different names and posted to himself! Ended up slagging somebody quite baddly (worse than what we does - he got personal and despite Jeff warning him regular he carried on - OK we all gets a little hot under the collar at times and allowance is made for this - on this particular forum threads, but he got nasty with it!) So of course he had to go - having said that he may be about in another alias!! Pity I quite liked the guy - even if he was a bleeding nutter (maybe that's why I liked the guy!)

And to change the subject - looking at Westlawns rules above it's nice to see that the long arm of Health and Safety stretched back even then! Good old Health and Safety - another (legalised) form of pirate!!! Nasty people!!

So... do ya all know the different class of pirates beside the subtle multi-character feedback of bane members?

To understand the bygone pirate may prove fruitful in understanding the modern feared robber of the sea... I always wanted to know what make them tick... Hopefully we can gain some insight.

It's a pity to solve the problem we got to know what make them rob and you think some guys throw freebees to just get them off the lane... Money invested in pirate control is huge and no one even care if we class the different type of threat that roam the sea. Surely it more than thread laugher and jab in the forum.

Will it take serious mistake to lead to a wiser answer to the situation of the problem?

Westlawn You'll find the government ones have gone out of existance - they were known as Privateers! A simple system where somebody outfitted a ship, got a band of thugs went to the local king and said something along the line of "my liege give me a letter of marque to sail as a Privateer and I will attack the enemy and it won't cost you a penny!" So armed whith his letter of marque he was allowed to attack anybody who had the wrong flag up (i.e. whichever country his country was at war with that week - he catured them and sold on the ship and any profit went to the crew and owner of the Privateer - in effect the King got an efficient warship which frequently attacked the enemy for nothing! He onlty paid for one little letter - the Privateer had to keep attacking to make the job pay - kinda like selective pirates Bloody good scheme, unfortunately letters of marque where stopped about the end of the 18th Century as the world became more civilised?! (well actually regular wars dried up and the privateers kinda started the odd small war to keep the job going as it were - can't say I blame them a big crew of ruffians costs money to feed etc.
