| How much help did you get from Boatdesign.Net? Hi all! This forum have now lost some of our favorite members caused by bad behavior! Now we have to remember how much this forum have done for some of us. Regarding this forum I have a new cv thats looks very good. I have get answers in questions I was not able to find anywhere else and I did get the answers often imediately by this forum. For me this forum have participated in better understanding by hydrodynamics, hydrostatics and buildingsolutions. This knowledges, I will carry in my knowledge bag for the rest of my life. And no one is never able to steal my knowledge I have earned from "BD" Shortly I will also get a new job. Much with the help from this forum. Thanks Jeff you have done an incredible job that means more for us then you never can imagine. //Janne

| Damn straight Nukisen, I've made my living half my life either directly or indirectly from the sea. I gain insight and learn something here almost every day. BD is clearly unique, it stands clearly above most boating sites on the net by orders of magnitude. The people who come here are what makes the difference. Losing valuable members who leave disgusted threatens the very viability of this place. Without these people this place degenerates into just another boating site, google has pages and pages of similar mediocrity. "For me this forum have participated in better understanding by hydrodynamics, hydrostatics and buildingsolutions. This knowledges, I will carry in my knowledge bag for the rest of my life. And no one is never able to steal my knowledge I have earned from "BD" I say it again, Damn straight Nukisen!

| Thanks Tollywally! Now we also have to accept the life goes on. Some day I hope BD will get to the unique status again. As if not there will be a missing part of my life in living and learning. Anyway I don´t know if I have mensioned it before but your signature I do find very entertaining. ![]()

| LOL, Thanks Nukisen, there is much wisdom in your words. See the bottom of my recent post to kmorin in the metal design zone regarding my signature. The town he speaks of reminds me of what I have seen of Norway in pictures. I know Norway and Sweden are very much different places but over here we kind of blend Scandinavia all together in a kind of fuzzy picture through the ignorance of distance. All the best.

| This forum has been invaluable to me for the things I have learned about several types of construction methods, materials and innovations. It also has been very therapeutic as a new focal point for me to escape what have been some very traumatic events. I am very grateful to this forum for all the above and hope some day I will be able to contribute even one scinillionth to the forum of all that it has given me. I am deeply saddened by the departure of those very people from whom I have learned the most. ![]()

| I was off line for 3-4 plus months while moving. Upon return I sent out a few PMs asking what was going on? The replys were just some jerks screwing up and making discussions almost miserable. Now 2 of those people I sent PMs to no longer post. That, my friends, is a real loss for the screw ups. It is just a little late to say Sorry, I won't do it again. We have lost some of the most experienced boat builders and designers around--as in around the World. Thanks guys.................................... |

| Looking back at the forum, having run it for around 10 years now, every year a certain number of new members come which is exciting but also a certain number of people we value drift away for both good (new projects or work) and bad reasons which always feels like a great loss, and I do miss every one of them. But I think PAR was the contributor with the most volume of contributions to leave to date. Each time we spot a new poster who has a spark of genius, a generosity to help, or an interesting way of looking at things we can't help but think how lucky we are to get the chance to meet and learn from them. However, I think a lesson to be learned and remembered is not to take each other for granted on a day to day basis. For some reason, this lesson is all too easy to forget as we get busy with the day to day. I will try and do my part better to keep things running more smoothly, and I hope we all can remember in this coming year to be more respectful of one another and of those who are most generous with their advice and most kind to others as well. |

| I prefer to remain hopeful that a few of the recently lost might still reconsider.

| Thank you for the comments guys! I think I speek for all of us when telling Jeff that grown up people as us shouldn´t need a parent and we are convinced that you have done a great job. Also I do have experience of your action Jeff when I was about to post a very big misstake this day that may have been one disaster more. Thanks Jeff! And also thanks for all of you who still makes my days fun!

| I think we all could use a good slap every once in a while seems to keep the honest folks on there toes and the dishonest guessing what they got hit for and what they got away with for me this was my first foray into forum life after my contracting biz went belly up. Seems there is somewhat of a learning process with the primary realization being that some folks use the anonymity of the key board to become something they wouldn't likely become in person, Par and some of the more advanced forum users seem to inherently curb the possibilities however others seem to never get it. Most of us have our moments but come back to reality soon enough. my take is it takes all kinds and there is no amount of stewardship that can prevent it Par is going to get board without all our stupid questions if you ask me nothing like a good dorky song to wake up the dead

| i met face to face 7 people, most are firm friends, I also met bhnautika who patiently taught me rhino In that respect it has been great I learnt one thing from adhoc abt alloy 6080 which because I was away from the game for 9 years I did not know abt i also learnt from Ric, Mike J guillermo, and in turn was happy to impart my knowledge No point in talking abt the neg, but I used talk Par a lot Thinking simple solution IF there was button for keeping people you have on your ignore list from posting on a thread one starts? |

| I also know of the guys who left, and I think it's a shame. If I'm not mistaken they left because the abuse got too much, and if it becomes a matter of the abusers follow you around and trash every thread you participate in, why stay ? While I'm very happy with the way Jeff ran the forum I would have liked to see him step in once or twice, delete a couple of posts to 'keep it clean' and if the abuse continues, warn and eventually ban the culprits if they insist in making trouble. Nobody needs it. If you have some issue with someone else sort it out outside the forum, the rest of us doesn't want to know. These guys that left has made huge contributions to this forum and to what I know. Par's advice was always spot on and correct, be a bloody shame if he doesn't come back, I haven't learned all he knows yet ! I learned a lot from Richard, also an expert in his field, but didn't hessitate to give it to someone over the top. Difficult. I'm not going to name every one, every one has something to offer. For those who sticks around, great stuff, we'll have a ball yet. No spitting, scratching or biting ![]() As for the way to treat one another, I fully agree with Jeff.

| If guys leave for work, health, interest then it's one thing. If the guys leave because of the fighting and abuse then the problem is here. There is a 'report this post' button which is not intended for two parties disagreeing on something, but to report that what buggers the forum up. Do you think we can maybe use it a bit more Jeff ? Just to veer the nasties off ?

| I have only been in here for probably 8 months...but I have learned a hell of a lot about boats and boating...alot more than I thought there was to know...this is stuff every boater can benefit from knowing...not just designers and homebuilders....Nobody should be f-ing with the likes of PAR and anyone else for that matter...I wish I had sent a note earlier to certain individuals.... I had sensed a deep problem within the thread we all know about...most of us probably felt it...but fool us once..next time will be different..hopefully there wont be a next time...Jeff... I must agree you have created a superb website for boaters and boatbuilders alike...this episode is a growing pain I suppose...probably for many of you more than me who has been here a short time ...but anyways...I hope they come back...everyone just be nice...dammit! ![]()
