I know a builder. (no using any names) That's building what by all appearances should be a sweet boat. She's long and lean and has gobs of power. This boat has been a pain in the arse since the keel was laid. The first sign was when The frames were first placed....in the wrong location (they were corrected quickly though). The second was when the owner started to cancell items on his contract to supply them himself...nothing was the same as originally spec'd, and nothing fit properly. Then queer stuff started to happen. Electronics took on a mind of their own (she's unfortunately got a "fly-by-wire system), fittings broke for no reason, parts arrived from secondary suppliers out of spec and tolerance. The paint shop took ten days to do a four day job (no explanation). The client is...difficult.

My collegue, who first put her lines to paper, is sick and tired of the whole mess and wants to put a final curse on the vessel before she leaves for foreign shores.

So! How does one go about cursing a vessel? Anyone know any quick and dirty Voodoo spells?

Love cheap cost cutting bean counters AFTER is was designed by a pro. IF it pleases him , HE did it all!! IF HE is unhappy, you are a bunch of jerks and ripped him off. Hope he is the last one like that for a few years.

If the contract specifies that the builder supplies materials, it should stay that way. In my experience, contracts should always have a clause about changes by the owner. It either has a standard fee per charge, or what I prefer, it goes to straight time.

Plumb all the bilges to each other and not overboard. Time will take care of everything.

"What goes around, comes around" - old "flower children" belief. And it sounds like it's coming true here. Leave well enough alone. The owner will get exactly what he bought - headaches. And the more problems for the builder, the greater the headaches for the owner.

Something along the lines of..."may she never see a sunny sky, may she never hold a true course, may her compas swing and reel like a drunken ..."

She's aluminum, a pocket full of pennies might do the job too..
