Hi billjia
Here are just two examples which may help you get started
http://www.boatdesign.net/articles/index.shtml
http://www.tedbrewer.com/yachtdesign.html
If you are looking for a specific area of design (example propulsion) just check the forum index or search facility on this site. There’s just so much information here.
Best of luck!

Hi again Billjia
Maybe you can tell us a little more about what you are trying to do. It sounds like you want to design a power boat. This is not an area I am familiar with. I am an amateur designer and my interest is mainly sailing catamarans. If we know more about the problem, I’m sure others can help you with advice too.
Take care!

I want to design a boat about 5.5m which is propelled by waterjet. My teacher told me my subjet and asked me to do it as what i want. But you know i am so spring especially in yacht.I want to design a boat like this. The first question is how to begin ?

At first, I get the principal dimensions from some ships like mine.Of coures, they are not exact. Then I get weight and center of gravity, when I encounter a problem. How can I get the weight and the center of gravity? Our books said I should get weight from all materials and equipments. When I get all of their weight, I get my boat's weight. But how can I make sure the weight of GRP hull?
