Hello everybody,

I just wanted to introduce myself to the forum, as I have just recently joined. I love boats, ships, and pretty much everything that goes on the water. However, my level of interest does vary, as I am a steam-power enthusiast. Sadly, I am not fortunate enough to own a steam powered vessel of my own... Or a boat anyways! However, I love to design and think of concepts for boats (usually steam powered), which I hope to discuss with you all on the forum!

Apart from boats, I love history... Mainly pertaining to the naval aspect. I have researched the Titanic, her sisters (including technical specifications), and the people associated with her for a few years now, and has become quite a hobby. And on the opposite side of the spectrum (where there's little water to be had), I enjoy the old west. I'm also a novice organist.

I'm from Maine, where I'm fortunate enough to be around plenty of watercraft.

Hey, Whoosh~

I got '3D Boat Design' a couple months back - not expensive, but difficult for a so far non cad person. I queried, 'Can I input an existing table of offsets' (I'm looking to build a Bartender at some point, and want to 'stretch' a 22'-7" to 23'-11 by adding a 16" frame module in the center).

The answer given was not 'yes' or 'no', but something uninteligible and seemingly irrelevant to the information in the 'manual', which I had read.

I'm not opposed to throwing this program out. But if you or others have experience with it and know how to do what I want, that would be awesome!

If not, are those free programs you refer to in 'quick links', and do you know if I can input a table of offsets and get results?

search freeship here
as far as I know you can not input offsets
How strange, my dad and I built a bartender when I was 13 years old in NZ
Take your offsets, convert to mm,
open freeship and put your points in
Look I am not a CAD guru, ask your question in the right place and good luck eh)(ask here in the cad sections of pcs)
Carlton design has a very simple programme too,
if you google
you can also trial rhino 4 for free, but only allows 25 saves

Hey, thanks a lot for the timely and helpful reply. BT's are going strong. Mr. Caulkins 'crossed the bar' just a few months ago. Bill Childs is the licensee and has been for some time. Check out www.bartenderboats.com if you haven't already. Some other Kiwi's are abuiliding or about to.

Thank you for the welcome and help with design software, everybody! I'm more of a pencil and paper type, but I wouldn't mind getting into CAD eventually.
