Duct tape is for ducts. But if you can't get over the urge to tape something try electrician's tape then fiberglass strand tape and then more electrician's tape.
The E tape is easy to take off, (dosn't leave a goey mess) covers the FG tape protecting it from UV ect and the FG tape gives the whole thing great strength.
