The things one must do in the name of "love" and an "ongoing relationship"

Here are the current settings for posting "rep points" - - a C&P from a reply to my questions from Jeff (moderator)

It's currently set for:

* User Spread: (How many different users must you give reputation to before you can hit the same person again?) 25
(there was a fear early on that the user reputation system would create a problem of cliques so this number was set fairly high to prevent this)
* Daily Reputation Clicks Limit: 10
* Minimum Post Count: (How many posts must a user have before his reputation hits count on others?) 50
(so new users to the forum can basically send you a note of approval or disapproval (over 5 posts needed for any negative) but only members with at least 50 posts will affect your numerical reputation number at all.)

hey Mas , why does any of this matter , I mean who really cares what people think ?

Since I`m a "newbie" here what am I missing about all this ?

Do you get " removed "from this forum if you get too many bad " reviews' or something ?

Please don`t think this is sarcasm , its not meant in that way

All other comments welcome also of course....

Reputation points were hotly debated when the forum started to use the system. Some people consider the points, others do not.

It has been kind of 'common practice' to identify yourself when you rate a post, either good or bad.

Adding positive feedback is better than quoting a whole post back or just saying "I agree" or "good post".

Likewise, a bit of negative feedback in private, can avoid a public pissing match.

All in all, I think the system has become transparent to most posters.

When I read a post that sounds reasonable but I have no personal frame of reference, I look at the poster's reputation points. If a poster has 1,000 posts and rep of 10, it colours my opinion of the content. If the same post comes from a 1,000 post history with a high reputation number, I am more apt to accept the information on faith.

That said, Mas, if you can't give positive feedback to someone for a second or third time, are you saying that less than 25 posters here have opinions that are worth a ****?
