Mas my McAffee notifed me about every 30 minute or so of having removed some threat or prevented access to somthing lastnight(morning for you)bummer. Thought you maybe getting the same. Got a virus (the computer) in Feb that duplicated every file on the drive. Ended up with a bout a million usless design files.

See, That is what you get when using **** for an operating system.... so many holes it makes a sieve look watertight.... It was designed that way for the ease of access by the dummies at the fbi, cia and US-tax office etc.... and all the hackers know this and more, so unless you take expensive lessons from the likes of The1, then go for a linux version that does NOT come from USA, like Linux-mint or Ubuntu which offers an easy migration path....

Why do you think all the isp's use linux - the version for commercial business (Red Hat....) - - Linux is robust and designed for multiuser environments and security from the very begining - not an add-on hack or after thought..... That is why I moved...

and a linux machine is suppose to get faster the longer it stays on,,,unlike having to reboot windows.,,,, and i only got the toys because i got a virus like 10 years ago,,,,wasnt gonna let that happen again,,hehe

You know I have never had a security issue with Windows, lots of MS apps are targeted but that is because of popularity and the open interfaces that MS seem to like building. I prefer non MS apps by and large and that keeps most things under control. A decent firewall and a good virus app and thats all I run...

I used to, among other things run IT security for one part of a large company, I had all this NT based stuff, again no issues. All the reps told me this was not secure and that was not but they could never explain much beyond the hype. I always offered them a target, if they could hack my network they could have my business, no one ever got there. Mind you I bought my security software from a firm based in Israel, I was convinced the setup was good and it never failed me. I had one disgruntled firm run a denial of service attack after I told them we didn't need their software... they where so obvious and clumsy with it... I phoned the rep and told her to keep up so I could log enough to prove a case, she denied all but it stopped instantly little biatch she was.

Horses for course's, any tool is dangerous in the hands of a fool.

A large part of the issues with Windows is crap hardware... I have run boxes from different vendors beside each other (two of each), same spec, same config, same updates, same, same, same.... yet one set were pox box's and the other ran like a dream. I hate to say it but its not all MS's fault, hardware vendors build some flakey machines.

Go ring them now and ask if the offer still holds? $5K is $5K and is always useful even if it only buys a loaf of bread sometime in the future? - I found a cheque for $1.00 from the Aussy tax office which I will bank Mon....

A high level jetstream will reduce the chance of good rains (due to the wind-shear factor) (BS to sound authoritative....) WNW at 11 kph, 8 deg celsius at Maroochydore airport on this pleasant Sunday morning (07:17Hz) cloud base is around or above 20,000 ft - - just a wild guess, and there are no pigs, ufo's or other aircraft flying, and no boats visible either - - and for those so inclined, no weathers or ewes GMGF (--. -- --. ..-.)

Nothing changes??? - - still too cold for me 9 deg celsius, an 11kph westerley and those light rain marks on the radar are false (high level ice?)
