Is this more "brinksmanship" to see who blinks first? Russia or USA?

http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2...section=justin
Russian warships are patrolling Arctic waters for the first time since the break up of the Soviet Union.
With international interest growing in the Arctic, particularly in its huge reserves of natural resources, Russia is stepping up efforts to make its mark in the region.
The Navy has announced that a destroyer and a missile cruiser have begun patrolling the area.
A spokesman for the Navy says ships from the Russian North Fleet will be regularly in the Arctic, but there is nothing aggressive in about the move.
The announcement of the patrols follows last week's missions over the region by Russian strategic bombers.
Other countries are watching Russia's increasing presence with concern.
One American Congressman has reportedly said that the United States is running in last place in the global competition for the Arctic.

So what's changed? You'd expect the North Fleet to be patrolling in the North wouldn't you -where the hell you think they'd patrol - Swaziland?

HOW SAD...... http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2...section=justin

A New Zealand judge has ordered that the parents of an eight-year-old girl change her name, saying it is highly embarrassing and makes the child a target for ridicule.

The girl, who lives in New Plymouth on the west coast of the north island, is named "Talula Does the Hula From Hawaii".

The Family court was told that the child is so mortified she has not told any of her friends her real name.

Judge Robert Murfitt ruled that the name was a social disability.

The girl's parents have separated and she has been placed under the court's guardianship while a new name is selected.

Judge Murfitt says he is appalled by the judgement of some parents.

He says in New Zealand there are children called Midnight Chardonnay, Number 16 Bus Shelter and Violence.

More Drivel....... same place as above

Moscow is the world's priciest city for expatriate workers and is almost 1.5 times as expensive as New York, Shanghai, Amsterdam and Madrid, a report on relative living costs shows.

Tokyo rose above London into second place in the world rankings while Oslo, boosted by Norway's petrodollars, climbed six places to fourth.

Asuncion was ranked the world's least expensive major city for a sixth year running, according to the annual survey by human resource consultants Mercer, which measured the cost of more than 200 items in 143 cities.

Moscow had a cost of living index of 142.4 points compared with highest-placed US city New York, which fell seven places to 22nd with a score of 100.

Although consumers globally were feeling the pinch from rising price inflation, large currency shifts and economic differences meant some countries felt it more than others,

"Our research confirms the global trend in price increases for certain foodstuffs and petrol, though the rise is not consistent in all locations," said Yvonne Traber, a principal and research manager at Mercer.

Mercer said currency trends accounted for many of this year's shifts in city rankings, with the rouble, euro, and several other currencies all gaining against the US dollar and making US cities in general seem comparatively cheaper.

"On the bright side, the US dollar's loss of value may serve to attract globally mobile executives to business centres such as New York, Chicago and Los Angeles," said Mitch Barnes, another principal at Mercer.

"The difference in cost of living can be significant, particularly for those executives with families."

Countries with high economic growth rates also saw big rises in relative living costs, with Sao Paulo in Brazil and Istanbul in Turkey among the biggest climbers in the global rankings.

Mercer said the survey, which tracked housing rents as well as the cost of clothing, transport and entertainment, was used to help multinational companies and governments determine compensation allowances for their expatriate employees.

"Keeping on top of the changes in expatriate cost of living is essential so companies can ensure their employees are compensated fairly and at competitive rates when stationed abroad," Ms Traber said.

Mas,

So what is new, the rich get richer and the poor get poorer, remember the old song from th ??'s.....nothing changes mate, nothing will.

Even if we pooled all the money in the world and gave it out equally, the next day there would be rich and poor...through both corruption and wise economic practices...such is life.

One thing is certain though, the harder you work the richer you get....it might take a while, but it will happen.

Seriously for a second... that is what monetary inflation (increasing the money supply, the original and true meaning of the now completely bastardized and useless economic term inflation) was/is designed to do. The system is stacked that way from its monetary root and as long as government can create money from nothing it will continue to be so. It benefits, in order, the governing classes, the financial class and anyone smart enough to work out how it works and wealthy enough to take advantage of it. In fact many of the wealthy beneficiaries of the system don't get how it works but the net effect is the same----- the rich get richer and the poor get poorer.

and now I have to be silly just so you will think I am completely insane and not take me seriously
