You may be a little "off track" but I feel the direction is pretty close.... Lots of the "protective actions" seem to bear little or no fruit of success, and many seem to aggravate any chance of settlement/peace/reconciliation or even defeat of an enemy....

One must ask, are all sides that incompetent as to be unable to bring about a decisive outcome, one way or another? Are we the by-standing populace, being played off in some big game?

I still think Kennedy was not shot by that librarians assistant with a 30-30 from that distance.... That would have needed a skilled sniper with a good scope and a long barrel - not a short-barrel sports toy..... what was the distance? even at 200 yards, try to hit a 2" dia target - and you septics claim to be "gun enthusiasts"

cant,,,well,,,ya could,,but would need a few "practice" shots to adjust everything,,,even though there isnt much adjusting on a 30/30,,other then ya peep sight,,hehe ,,,we used to be happy to hit a deer at 150 yards,,,,( i grew up with a winchester model 94 30/30) ,,but that was popular because you was usually in thickets and ya longest clear shot was 50 yards at best,,hehe

A far as I see it there have always been random acts of "terror", the 70's was alot worse than today.... but what a perfect natural occurrence to exploit and formalise into a war. Its an unwinable war against a threat thats never going to win, its got legs... cheap too, any random event can be dragged into the fray. Its the perfect "credible external threat"...

Don't get me wrong... of course terrorist activity is real, has been real for a long time, its just not that organised and its not as likely to be coming to a cinema near you as the advertising suggests.

I agree with that guy who did the doco saying that basically Alquedia didn't exist as we perceived until "we invented it" in the western media...

This, even if accidentally, plays to a classic play book.

Ok not "off track", just my vivid imagination at play again, going to have another "blue one" hehehe

the1, can you remember the distance in the Kennedy assassination claim?, and was it a "30-30" it looked like one of those "cowboy" lever action thingies and may make a big hole (and blow the other side of the head out - which did not happen) and to get the centre of the head in a moving shot..... ******** that boy would have had difficulty hitting a barn door from the inside....

Build a boat, find a nice peaceful tropical island to enjoy in retirement, whilst helping the locals to look after themselves? (participation in community life and learn to do with less....)

and a "good niterz" P.S. ,,ya know,,the "war on terror" may have just been an excuse, or whateva,,,,but i still dont care,,heh,,in fact, hussain may have had nothing at all to do with anything,,,i still dont care,,,cause i still remember the video from what hussain did to HIS own people,,,i dont think any REAL government should have waited for an excuse,,,drop an atom bomb on the whole place,,at least the people would have died a faster more humane death then nerve gas.and at least we would have AT LEAST gotten the bad guys,,,not ONLY the innocent like HE DID,,TO HIS OWN PEOPLE,,,oh,,did i say that already?

The fact that Sadam was a bad man just made it easier all to accept. At the time I thought "It couldn't be worse, so what if its the oil, Sadams killing people... yada yada"... now I'm not sure at all what would have been the best way to tackle it. IMO these situations are so insanely complex that handling them correctly is damn near impossible and I am very glad its not my job to sort it.

You simply can't transplant your value system and expect it to work, these things grow organically over time in what can be a long a painful process. Its like the situation we have with the Aboriginal population in Australia. The most well meaning programs have been destructive in many regards... collectively, when we give/intervene we cause problems, when we don't problems arise. It's very, very hard to get this right and I believe that in the end the only real solutions, whatever they might be, must come from the people themselves and that process will necessarily be a result of a political struggle from within their own ranks.

Iraq's a mess... should we do it again if we had the chance? Even with 20/20 hind sight could we do it better? Are we really sure who is actually financing what fighting forces to what ends, even today? It always seems to be a confused mess to me ???! Do we really get the politics of the Iraq people, should it even be one country? Should have ever been one country? Did the British just plain cock it up in the first place when they 'assembled' the place?

it was a 6.5 bolt action carcano with telescopic sights
from personal experience good enough with standard military sights to hit the bullseye at 600yards

Who trained Saddam? who trained Sammy bin Liner - did the British Fcukup when they made Iraq? wern't no oil in the place then so it didn't matter! did the british fcukup when they made America? wern't much there either! the relief colume from Europe was delayed by a year in Gibraltar (at the time it was considered more important than America) which is one of the main reasons you won (the other was the fact you were using British troops, deserters at that!) You can't use history to blame for your present day mistakes - different set of priorities!!

I think it may have started around or before the "crusades"? - - All in this quest to bring back the "holy grail" - - One smart trader could have found one (or even made it) and sold it for a "kings ransom" and the world would be a different place... - - No telling whether for the better or otherwise, just different...

Fact is Safie a bunch of cultures that didn't happily coexist where shoved into the same country, the question now is was that a mistake, maybe they'd be happier if Iraq was dissembled and they where not squabbling over the same dirt? Mind you thats impossible now, no one will let the Kurds be because of the black curse... pity they actually seem to want to get on with life. Half the rest are inter-married but there is no way they are being ruled by Catholic's...!.... er I mean Suni's... that's the other "I" place wasn't it

I won what...? I'm from London and I live in Awstralia you touchy Pommie you...!

ya it was a 6.5 ,,and i think they said 275 yards,,not sure,,,in fact they just had a special on the history channel about it yesterday,,,trying to see if they could get a bullet to hit 7 times like the so called "magic bullet" did,,,they got it to make 6 injuries,,but their bullet hit 2 ribs instead of 1 so it slowed a bit more.
i had a old british 303 ,,you could use the pop up sights and hit @ 500 yards,,well,,,my uncle could,,i was only good for about 300 and so,,ug customer already this morn,,,

Mankind has evolved and separated its clan into different speaking, different cultures and different colours over the last 5000 years.

In the last 100 years, the do gooders have told us to be "more tolerant", don't be a racist, etc etc , and we can all live happily together and in peace.

That, my friends, is the greatest load of crap the social experimenters have come up with.

We should have left the boundaries and the people as they were.

Just what is a racist anyhow. If I say Austra;ia is the best place to live, am i a racist/ Do I have to love everyone from every different country....or am I a racist. Say what you like, I don't care if you do think i am racist, in fact I would like to hear of any citizen from any country that is not a racist.

POX on all of the do gooders of the world and all the sheeple that follow their crazy ideas....look at political correctness....where has that got us, all totally screwed.

I say lets learn to call a spade a spade, defend ypur life however you can, and live life to its fullest, just "do unto others as you would have then do unto you"....simple rule .....and it works.
