Pitcain? or Tristan da Cunah maybe? I guess anywhere off the beaten (the further off the better) is doing OK - just make sure you got everything afore ye go (including things to make sure your private island stays private if you see what I mean - most of you will I'm sure)

SEE WHAT TA HELL I GOTTA LIVE WITH in this damned forsaken "land of non-skid",,,no wonder these idiots lost the cival war,,,,,,that and their brain Fart of building a wooden submarine,,hehe
FORT WORTH, Texas - Charles Ray Fuller must have been planning one big record company.

The 21-year-old North Texas man was arrested last week for trying to cash a $360 billion check, saying he wanted to start a record business, authorities said. Tellers at the Fort Worth bank were immediately suspicious — perhaps the 10 zeros on a personal check tipped them off, according to investigators.

Fuller, of suburban Crowley, was arrested on a forgery charge, police said. He was released after posting $3,750 bail.

Fuller said his girlfriend's mother gave him the check to start a record business, but bank employees who contacted the account's owner said the woman told them she did not give him permission to take or cash the check, according to police.

In addition to forgery, Fuller was charged with unlawfully carrying a weapon and possessing marijuana, Fort Worth police Lt. Paul Henderson said.

Officers reported finding less than 2 ounces of marijuana and a .25-caliber handgun and magazine in his pockets, police said.

Fuller couldn't be located for comment by The Associated Press on Friday because there were no phone listings for him in the Fort Worth area.

<<<dumbarses like this give REAL pot smokers a bad name!!

Mannie, I feel they may hate English - remember the Fauklands fun during Thatcher's rule...

Transportation will get expensive, not to mention the rising cost of food. A degree of self sufficiency in the food department will be essential for any nation state but more so for out of the way Islands. I have no idea what life is like on Pitcain, could be paradise albeit a little cut off, I think they have the internet now????

I imagine these images show sufficient potential to survive. In the first one, the boat driver saw I was about to take a picture so he slowed down just as I clicked - hence with the bow drop, the sea appears to be going up - all due to coming off the plane enexpectedly he he...
The first one even has plants/trees & stuff growing on old coral reef that has risen up out of the water, Tatau Island, near the site of the first working gold mine in PNG...
The second one is old coconut estate, Ruiniu Plantation, Near Tambuka village, NW Guadalcanal, Solomon Islands...
The third one is of "NusaDua" a holiday resort opposite the harbour front of Kavieng, New Ireland, Papua New Guinea...

Yes, probably northern Vanuatu or Santa Cruz in SE of Solomon Islands... Know anyone who would like to invest over that way?

Coconut (copra) and cattle farm? could develop into a "hideaway" resort for the jaded minds needing to get away from phones & broadband internet (only HF radio emails unless you are keen to spend US$1000/mo for a satellite service which FLIES) - I was a plantation manager & could set up stuff there for a small fee?
