Starting from the "training circuit" and on to the delux areas, use google earth in degrees in decimal fractions (-26.663, 153.070), (-26.664, 153.063), (-26.684, 153.049) - the other 7 you can find for yourself...

BS Patents & Multiple Threads

Is this the place for rants?

What is with people posting the same question and starting new topics in more than one forum? I'm old ... it confuses me ... and it makes any replies hard to follow. It is as if people think that posting in every forum will get more attention and better answers.

Another thing that bugs me it people that get patents on **** that doesn't work and has never been built. It really fries me when they post their (c)(tm) patented 'solution' into every thread that it might have relevance to. CBTF has patents on **** that no one has ever tried, but if they do ... and it works ... they have to pay CBTF a fee. Money for nothing?

There are two items that have caught my eye lately ... the Mainstay Rig and the whale power lumpy fin thing.

The mainstay guy applied for the patent in August 2000 and as of this month (March 2008) is going to build one to see if it works ... isn't it that backwards? Shouldn't you have to build it or a proof of concept model or some **** to show the 'invention' works before they give you a patent? It beggars belief.

On to lumps on yer fins ... what fins do whales use for power and forward drive? What fins are connected to major muscle mass? What fins have the lumps? HELLO! Is *ANYBODY* home ... and it is a patented "invention" ... not by the inventor (Nature), but some guy trying to make a buck.

Think about it ... do all swimming mammals have lumpy leading edge fins? No? Do all whales have lumpy leading edge fins? No? Do toothed (predator) whales have lumpy leading edge fins? No? What do the lumpy fin whales have in common ... they are Baline Whales ... they don't have to go fast and hunt ... the fast whales don't have the lumps ... could the lumps have another purpose ... like something to do with eating? For **** sake use your brain and figure this **** out, it is not all that hard. Of what use is a hard to stall flipper to a great large beast sucking primordial goo out of the water? The whales that need to have high lift, hard to stall flippers/foils are the hunters ... they don't turn quick, they starve ... anyone see any lumps?

Wow, some guy sees lumps on a fin, then builds lumps on a foil (that don't look **** all like the whale lumps) and gets a patent!?!?! What up with that?

Oh well ... Thanks to all that suffer the fools and still offer sage comment and advice. It drives me buggy ... well maybe it doesn't ... it can't ... I don't have a buggy ... I have a buggy whip ... but that's TMI for here ...

I feel better now ... I think ...but maybe not ...

Where was that useless invention thread? I'm making a friggin list ...

oh ...

Happy Easter

Post links to the offending site, in "drivel and here and a few others where "us ratbags hang out" a bit of fun is always welcome... else let Jeff know in the "flag for moderator" with a short note (you will then deprive us of our regular entertainment and one of the useful functions for the grumpy old bastards)... he he he

Do you know you are speaking to a Grand Master? Get up ,--get up,--you don't need to fall to your knees.
