Bgull,
I am sorry your didn't get an answer to your questions.
Mostly I have found this forum and its members to be very helpfull.
One thing that may explain it is that you might want to provide a bit more info. Maybe photo's or something.
I don't know.
Maybe just the 'right people' haven't read your questions yet.
After all, not that many people have viewed it yet. And I certainly couldn't help you.
Sometimes the heading you give your thread can make all the difference.
Anyway, I remember when my very first thread went unanswered, and six hours later I was fuming.
When I simply rephrased the heading of my thread I got help, and lots of it.
Best luck.
Don't loose hope yet.
Sometimes the right answer can take a while.

Sometime reviewing old thread does answer ones own question, find key word in search, check it out, if the topic have no past answer and nobody answering then maybe we need more picturistic approach to tell what we need.

If still no answer then you may be right.

Thanks for the responses. I have used the search feature for an answer but failed to come up with one. It was then that I posted the questions. Ironically I got more responses to my whining about no responses than I got to the questions.

I wouldn't want to contradict Welly on this point! (if in doubt see Bruce Roberts Lament)
Ha ha.
no offence Welly, you know I luv ya.

It is true, you have got more responses to this thread than to the others.
That is I think because while I can offer you no help regarding your outboard, I can try (and Welly) to offer you some help as to how you may best go about getting help here... Because I and Welly have gotten so much ourselves.

If i was you, I might soon try to start yet again another thread.

This time I would name it something like-

"1969 55HP Johnson. Rewiring ignition switch. PLEASE HELP!!!"

Now this is just a suggestion, gained from my own experience, and a direct translation of how I reworded my initial unanswered thread.
Yes, since I have followed up on my original thread for months now, the original wording does strike me as a little desperate- but hey, I got the answers I was looking for.

If you don't want to start a new thread (which may not be looked upon to kindly as it might be multiple posting) you can always reply to your own thread, updating and adding to your information, and keeping it near to the top to the "Most Recent" thread search.
What ever you do, good luck.
I am sure someone can help you.
Hans.

This is a Design forum -- even though it often goes into politics and other tangential issues ... ... there should be better sources for manuals. A quick Google search turned up these -

http://www.outboardrepairs.com/johnson/

http://www.tenkillermarine.com/boatparts/omctrouble.asp

Good luck.

I think the forum members all came here to find infomation, it take sometime for them to read their thread before running freely reading whinning.... thread. So it does need patient a couple of days to week before the right person with the right answer with the spare-time come along.

Cheer

Every post is like an advertisement, gotta get attention, being specific in the title helps.

We have no engine repair section, like someone said it's more of a "design" forum.

For the record I never recieved the information on human/boat ergonomics I was seeking a while back. It does not anger me, but it is/was fustrating. Some things are just hit or miss.

"Propulsion" is one section which may be the proper forum to post your question, although it may not see the activity level your question requires.

Try some of the other forums people have posted, I've seen the same ones posted before, good for where to purchase boat covers or where to pick up hard to find parts.
