    Hello...

Sorry for this bit - but I am still at a loss for my cousins son - his death - a kid who hung about in my shop - an American soldier - I just do not understand the 'big picture' sometimes ...

DEVILS AND DUST - Bruce Springsteen ...

I got my finger on the trigger
But I don't know who to trust
When I look into your eyes
    There's just devils and dust
We're a long, long way from home, Bobbie
Home's a long, long way from us
I feel a dirty wind blowing
    Devils and dust

I got God on my side
    I'm just trying to survive
What if what you do to survive
    Kills the things you love
    Fear's a powerful thing
It can turn your heart black you can trust
It'll take your God filled soul
And fill it with devils and dust

Well I dreamed of you last night
In a field of blood and stone
    The blood began to dry
    The smell began to rise
Well I dreamed of you last night
In a field of mud and bone
    Your blood began to dry
    The smell began to rise

We've got God on our side
    We're just trying to survive
What if what you do to survive
    Kills the things you love
    Fear's a powerful thing
It'll turn your heart black you can trust
It'll take your God filled soul
Fill it with devils and dust

Now every woman and every man
They want to take a righteous stand
Find the love that God wills
And the faith that He commands
I've got my finger on the trigger
And tonight faith just ain't enough
When I look inside my heart
    There's just devils and dust

Well I've got God on my side
And I'm just trying to survive
What if what you do to survive
    Kills the things you love
    Fear's a dangerous thing
It can turn your heart black you can trust
It'll take your God filled soul
Fill it with devils and dust

It'll take your God filled soul

Fill it with devils and dust

    SailDesign Old Phart! Stay upwind..

Sean, old buddy - sometimes there is no sense to be made of things, and the "big picture" is just a mosaic of smaller ones. At least he went doing something he felt was right, rather than being run over by a bus.
I don't want to be mourned when I go - I want the fact that I was ever here to be celebrated.
    Hang in there,
    Steve

I would like to believe that too, but I'm just not that good at deceiving myself. Sean, what your nephew did was he made the greatest sacrifice a military man can make, honorably serving his country. A soldier or a civilian can lose their life in a traffic accident, a gang fight over drugs, fatal disease, whatever. Or be dishonorably discharged for insubordination or dereliction of duty. My condolences to you and the rest of his family.

How can a bunch of guys living in the middle of the desert at the other end of the world take your freedom with a couple of hijacked aeroplanes? Is this whole war thing actually increasing your freedom? Would you feel safer on a holiday to the middle east than before? You probably lost your freedom to go there for a very long time.

    Hello...

Have to close and give this to 'Skippy'...

Have to judge by peers and association - it was his call - he just came up against dug in defenders of their country...

And he was far from home and just lost focus for the split second it takes a bullet to take a man...

    Thanks...

    SH.
