| many people have trouble with the concept of hard and soft sciences some things like math and engineering are hard science that is they are definitive others like psychology are still considered science but the discipline is far far less definitive because of the vagaries of the human Psyche something like climate change is on a scale of one to ten about an 8 leaning toward the harder of the sciences with a consensus of well over 90% among the people who actually study this area of science science is made up of laws and physics that gets applied to a more complex system than what those laws are derived within and in provides theoretical data to then be checked against observable data. No its not perfect but it does bear itself out the vast majority of the time each kind of science has its own level of certainty and those who do not typically deal with varying levels of certainty sometimes have a hard time working with the vagaries of anything but there own areas of science its one of the reasons there is so much isolationism within the sciences

BUTBUTBUTBUTBUTBUTBUTBUTBUTBUTBUTBUTBUTBUTBUTBUTBUTBUTBUTBUTBUTBUTBUTBUTBUTBUTBUTBUTBUTBUT...... Sorry, that BS doesn't fly. The climatologists are using mathmatical models to predict climate change. The problem is that math is not a "soft science". The math either works or it doesn't. The usual excuse given is that the data is somewhat unreliable... BUT, it seems that the data collected over the last 25 years is extremely reliable, and no less an authority than the Royal Meteorlogical Society is questioning the models used to predict climate change. They prove the models are wrong by the simple expedient of using them to predict PAST climate change - and the models don't work. They FAIL. New Study Increases Concerns About Climate Model Reliability

| I don't need to present a counter theory to say there are no unicorns either. The fact is there is no agw. All arguments favoring it are bs bs bs bs bs bs bs bs bs bs.

| I have trouble with people that have an overly high level of respect for academia... it points to small life experience. Proving anthropogenic global warming appears to have mutated into a cross between a political game and a gravy train for the science community. Every third world country will subscribe to related mandates IF they gain from it in direct assistance or trade advantage, every first world country is paying lip service to it while never actually doing anything meaningful, I wonder why that is? I'm just waiting for a US admin to demonize Asia over it and pick a fight. The US is headed down a path that has historically lead to war, you need the hearts and minds of the people if you are going there... push is coming to shove over resources particularly energy. It is not really hard to see how all this will tie together in the wider time frame and culminate in what will be a struggle for resource with a crusade spin ---> we in the west will be sold a save the planet, 'holier than thou' line, the east will be sold an 'its all their fault' line. I'm hoping this will take quite a while, but with that academic at the helm of the Fed reserve pressures will build surprisingly quickly. Current reality rarely finds its way onto your TV.... AGW... oh, sorry, climate chaos... yeah right. Talk to a good climatologist to understand why the next few decades will be more active than the last! They have built houses on Cape Fear... now it was called Cape Fear for a reason...LOL She'll be back! |

| Your alternate media is bigger and louder than ours!.... much to my chagrin, but you take it where you find it, so I know more about the US of A in some respects than I do about Oz. I wish we had some louder independent voices. Cheers Z |

| nah I lied every year is my 21st nice sushi though en marinated buffalo is also well worth a try if you ever get a chance while back I made goat ribs that I marinated in Saki and jerk sauce for a week normally goat is way to tough to do much with but after a week soaking in alcohol it gets real tender had a barbecue and invited a bunch of folks over was a big hit recently I been using cooking sherry adds a nice flavor to things Saki tenderizes better though the political campaign by industry is pretty well documented http://www.pbs.org/now/shows/347/oil-politics.html http://www.treehugger.com/files/2010...-elections.php these guys even have a web site designed to do not much more than inform the voters of what politicians are taking the most bribery money from the oil and gas industry http://oilmoney.priceofoil.org/ they also have a follow the coal money page http://coalmoney.priceofoil.org/ simple reality is the corporate oligarchy own this gov voting is a mere formality cheers B
