| What I meant was; Neither Mark nor I said the USA won the war single-handedly, but that was the implication I got from your remark. I also didn't mean to point a finger at you, Boston for re-writing history but at many libs who are doing just that. Check the history books over the last 40 years and see how they have mutated with omissions, deletions and distortions. No I don't have the resources to document this, but I know what I learned in school, and I know what bilge was put forth to my children. No offense meant to you, Boston, unless you are one of those who actually are re-writing history. But we do see things differently. |

| The responsible measure indicates that just 0.32% of the population paid the ultimate price, and USA cleaned out the English coffers for their assistance (mercenary bastards), and the USA powers that be were truly mercenary about the idea of helping another democracy - whereas the Canadians went across and even volunteered their services as individuals (many of these volunteers, as war dead may not have figured in these WW2 statistics) with 0.4% of their population making the ultimate contribution, as well as to pay the US demands for payment from England - - Where is the US spirit of democracy and helping friends... (Only for Money/Gold and if the USA gains significantly in the deal...) Does the rest of the world have to continually remind the USA officialdom of its arrogance greed and self interest at the expense of the rest of the world? - - I for one object to many who seem to continually suck-up and grovel at the feet of the self-important US officialdom's cretinous policy... A reality check is long overdue... Tiny Australia paid in to the tune of 0.58% of our population - - Representatively USA was down with Thailand, Spain, South Africa, Mongolia, Korea, Iraq, Iran, Iceland - - Not in the same league as any of the major allied forces, and USA officialdom was demanding other costs for many years from England, and yet the USA officialdom cannot even keep up with its own volunteered commitments in the funding of United Nations... WTF... Don't even go near the role of "global peacemaker" ******** - I think someone listed 50 unwelcome, unnecessary, immoral, "illegal" interventions, occupations and invasions since WW2 off the top of their head without even digging into any documentation.... The USA still has not left some of the occupied territories... Does one need to list of these? - - The global record of the USA is NOT GOOD... Even in my links today, (from a USA source), USA officialdom is supporting the TALIBAN in Afghanistan in areas where their own soldiers are fighting the Taliban ![]() Who is ******* stupid, arrogant, mercenary and couldn't give a **** about the collateral damage caused, EVEN NOW...

| I tend to get into that conversation regularly with some of the professors and students. Thing is if you read history as presented in each country its remarkable how different people report differently events common to both. Kinda spooky actually cause in some cases its blindingly different. I may have misunderstood you ( happens regularly ) and Ild agree that 400,000 is 400,000 to many with each one being a heavy loss to the brothers sisters and rents left behind. I think the point I was trying to make is that considering total population proximity to the fighting level of destruction to the homeland deaths of civilians and loss of economic stability the USA got off easy. yerp a bunch of kids went off to war who would have any day rather stayed home and for that you gotta give em credit, but they at least had a home to come home to. a lot of folks involved in that war lost everything including there countries. when I was in school they taught the revolution pretty much every year in grade school. once I hit college and began my studies in earnest I was shocked at the level of candy floss grade school had slathered it with a great example is one of the USA's most revered leaders who in fact completely stumbles and fumbles his way to the top there really was no great level of genius involved old George Washington had a thing for this chick named Martha didnt have a lot of money but he had a plan to buy this snazzy suet and try his best to make an impression turned out he thought he looked good looking like a general snazy new set of threads later he heads off to the continental militia ( I think it was ) walks in, stands in front of all the brass and says "can I be a general" answer "no" "but you can be a coronal and we have a job for you" go up and take a look at whats up in Quebec with the french and do not engage them we just want to know what there up to and if there intentions are to keep the peace" ( "um but there's this girl and I was kinda hoping to stay here in town sir" ok I put that part in, but it does have a ring to it ) so off goes George he grabs up a group of Indians as guides and heads off bout half way there he bumps into a contingency of french heading to phili and as instructed he opens fire ( that was sarcasm actually he was specifically instructed NOT to open fire ) turns out he just shot up the French ambassador to the colonies and his entourage ( brilliant eh ) on there way to pay there respects to British course George didnt know that cause he couldn't speak French and in all his planning genius neither did anyone else in his party nor did the French speak any English ( hardly imaginable since one of em was after all the ambassador to the colonies ) ambassador survived at least for a little while although old George apparently hadn't made his orders clear to his native guides who having had a few difficulties with the French earlier in life had a few things they planned on settling and one really great way to settle ones differences with a captive is to split the rat bastards scull open and wash your hands in his brains kinda like smoking the peace pipe but different all cool between us now and the rest of the French were held captive or sold off to other pissed off Indians along the way probably to meet similar fates ( what ever happened to good old fashioned diplomacy ) long story short George knocked off the french ambassador and kicked off the french indian war which naturally placed the British under some financial strain and led them to want to bill the colonies for a few things once the hundred year charter was up which is was due to be in just a few years which kicked off the american revolution where old George proceed to loose every major battle funny part is if it weren't for a guy named Lafayette ( a Frenchman ) old George would have surely lost the revolution now some folks would love to believe otherwise but the simple truth is that the most famous things George did in the revolution are generally considered to be A convincing a bunch of starving farmers to hang on till spring after having there asses handed to em for the previous what, two years, Ild have to look it up B crossing the Delaware ( long story but old George was actually running for his life although the amphibious assault on whatever podunk town that was worked and although it was a small victory the continental army could use whatever it could get by that time ) C using the continental army to cut a road to his land grant while he was supposed to be in the middle of a war and that kids is like it or not pretty much the story of the man who would not be king one of the greatest heroes of the revolution probably the only personage of the revolution the average kid could name as having been in it and my bet is not to many people educated in the united states have any clue he bumbled his way into almost single handedly setting events in motion that led to the war in the first place history paints a picture far more similar to Homer Simpson from the Simpsons cartoons than it does the illustrious leader our schools want us to believe in although while Im on a role if you want to talk about the schools shoveling crap down the kids throats why not mention what is it the 65~70% drop out rate common to many of the public school districts yikes screw what there teaching might want to focus on parental responsibilities and family involvements more than twisted history what we need is a system were going to school is desirable to the little bastards rather than something they all want to run away from love B |

| There is no link for this essay, so a copy&paste and para space removal... You can subscribe for free at this website... http://www.moneymorning.com.au/ - Money Weekend - Saturday, 14 November 2009 - Melbourne, Australia Why Jobs Growth Does Not Fuel an Economic Recovery - By Kris Sayce -=-Time and again the mainstream press puts the cart before the horse. -=-They aren't alone of course. After all, much of the time the mainstream press only writes what it does because it is fed with drivel by mainstream Keynesian economists. -=-The headline in yesterday's Australian Financial Review (AFR) was a perfect example of the press getting things round the wrong way. -=-The headline was, "Strong jobs growth to fuel recovery." -=-No, no, no, no, no. Wrong again. -=-It's not a growth in jobs that fuels a recovery. It is an improving economy that fuels job growth. -=-We're not talking some abstract chicken and egg scenario here. This one is simple. In order for there to be a growth in jobs, there either has to be an actual improvement in the economy, or the belief that the economy will improve. -=-The very act of hiring someone does not lead to economic growth. -=-Think about it, employment is a cost to a business. A business doesn't hire someone because the act of hiring them causes the business to grow. The business hires new staff because they believe their business will grow. -=-It's just the same as claiming that if you spend more money you'll become richer. The illogicality of these claims is mindblowing. -=-The growth or the perception of growth must come before the hiring can begin. -=-In fact, it's equally possible that strong jobs growth will harm the economy. How so? -=-Well, if the economic recovery isn't genuine then businesses will increase their costs without increasing their revenues and profits. -=-The economy is currently being propped up by government stimulus spending. Not just here but overseas too. You've heard all the talk by the likes of the Fairy Ruddfather and others claiming that stimulus spending shouldn't be withdrawn too quickly. -=-There's a simple reason they're saying that. Because they know the recovery is a fraud. -=-Without the billions of dollars of taxpayer money and borrowings being spent, economies worldwide would still be in a hole. All this money has to be paid back at some point. And when that starts that's when the economic growth will be seen as a charade. -=-Of course, they'll make the argument that if a business hires a salesperson then that will increase the sales to the business and the business will therefore make more money. -=-That, they will tell you, is an example of increased employment fuelling economic growth. -=-It's a nice neat little story isn't it? -=-It's just a shame that it's completely and utterly wrong. Utterly wrong. -=-Such an analysis no more indicates growth in the economy than you buying a hotdog at a football game indicates a growth in the economy. -=-Let me explain what I mean... -=-If you take the mainstream analysis to this example, then buying a hotdog at the football is proof of economic growth. But it isn't is it. All it means is that you've chosen to buy the hotdog at the football rather than buying food at the supermarket to prepare your own meal. -=-The same goes with the hiring of a salesperson. Sure the salesperson may have increased sales for that particular company, but perhaps this has been the result of a sale lost by another company. -=-In that case there is no economic growth at all. -=-The cost to businesses has increased - one extra salesperson - but the total size of the economy has remained the same. And unless the businesses are able to reduce costs or actually increase sales, then the economy will be worse off. -=-But it's typical of the way the mainstream press reports on the economy. They look at everything at face value and are too lazy or ignorant to look below the surface. -=-Then again, we now expect nothing more from them. -=-Cheers. - - Kris. http://www.gata.org/node/8023 "Jim Sinclair's tour de force at King World News"

Example U571 movie, the enigma machine, your Hollywood shows that this was an American success. ******** this was the British but Hollywood twisted it as you tend to do. It does say so in the credits right at the end. Was America the only country to take over Iraq, again you would think so. There were many tens of countries went in. note/ The British lost more men to the Americans that they did to Iraq with so called friendly fire. |

| I believe you are refering to a lunguist named Noam Chomsky, in an interview after he was denied visa to the US on speaking engagement. I think he is a remarkable effective speaker and he was eventually hired as a university professor, that way he could do all the lectures he wanted |

| hey how are you Masrapido yes he is a citizen but I think it was a long hard road for him to attain that citizenship and you have no idea how right you are a friend of mine sent a rather unflattering letter to the president a while back and ended up in the clink for his troubles spent about five years behind bars and all for a bit of foul language and a thank you note to a guy named Hinkley guess he shouldn't have sent the thankyou note to the white house eh B ps sounds like your country tolerates free speech cause some countries I know of dont do that oh in case anyone thinks my friend was some kind of liberal terrorist he had done four tours in vietnam and only came home because he got his legs blown off. I went to high school with the guy. Spent the rest of his life in a wheel chair. They cut off his veterans benefits his social security and his disability without trial before he even got arrested and then once he was convicted his family was left destitute. All for a letter that was intended as a joke from a guy who had been through hell and was in questionable mental health at any given time. land of the free home of the brave |

| On an unrelated note, London sucks (weather wise). And it is soooo!!! expensive here...people barely survive. And a lot of immigrants walking down the street. Feels more like India or Egypt. And people are very impatient. I hope we never let foreigners into Chile. This is just not right. It is scary. This is not England I came to see... |

| Hello Boston, yes, it is much better nowadays. You are free to say what you think. The government is tolerant and it encourages the public to voice their opinion. Just this year we have had a couple of months of students' (grammar school level) baricaded in their schools and locked them down. Education minister engaged in direct talks with students and it was all quite positive, despite a number of clashes with police. Police still tend to handle protesters in a pinochet way on a slightest provocation (verbal usually) from protesters, but all in all, it was a strong victory for students. And protesters return the punches, mind you. Chilean do not shy away from a fight with the police (I have a scar under my chin to prove that). It's the best way to make government understand who is the boss. |

| When this line goes to zero the system implodes. You're going to love this graph; http://www.financialsense.com/fsu/ed...2009/1112.html Question is do the money masters actually realize the implications of a finite world (with finite everything) or have they actually duped themselves into realy believing the growth forever myth of last century? If the former then presumably they already have some diabolical plan to rob us all on the way down as well. _____________________________________ The gold thing; Actually i thought gold extraction from the earth rates had peaked a long time ago. I thought whatever was getting mined nowadays was pretty minimal, enough to cover losses, but that basically most of the gold the earth had to offer was already mined and stored somewhere. On a separate but related note , it is interesting to note that peak oil will cause the acceleration of peak resource in just about everything else. In other words it is not just peak oil but peak evreything. That should be fun! Why oil will go down much faster than it went up; http://www.culturechange.org/cms/ind...d=537&Itemid=1 If one thinks that is flawed , one just has to look at Cantarell. ________________________________________________ I personally recommend this seminar for everyone; http://www.chrismartenson.com/crashcourse

| TTT the "fun has only started" and thanks for a fine post & link... Peak Oil is largely accepted as 1980, increases on output are the result of "sucking harder", peak being the remaining known actual, as opposed to falsified, reserves are in a declining state... Think PEAKS on water, fish, farm production, building materials, most mined minerals and almost everything... Actually the peaks on these were loooooong ago and the product is almost totally exhausted... We have exhausted nearly all means of continuing sustenance on this silly little spaceship.... The rest of this globes history will be a brief, but catastrophic, downhill ride to primitive sustenance levels for a very few, following = resources wars, = food wars and = water wars to = global starvation.... Gold, yep that too is in short supply and no really large deposits to meet expected growth in demand but quite a few small deposits - 1 to 5 man operations of "fun weekend panning" by those keen adventurers... China was the first to recognise = "peak population" and that is now out of balance with an extra large male population without hope of finding a Chinese wife = another imbalance that could destabilise things...We humans, it appears, are really good at making a ******* big disaster of everything... Yep your recommendation seems worthy, especially for the N American region... The global situation is getting very serious very fast, and very few are taking any notice... Time to prepare is getting very short, signs of anarchic behaviour are increasing with disenfranchised youth going on racist, fear motivated rampages and other inter-racial attacks on the rise... I am aware of anti racial sentiment towards Indians, Indian students in Victoria, anti Muslim, Serb/Croat, Asian around Sydney and other regions in Australia experiencing inter-racial conflicts... All this is referred to as "criminal behaviour", which it is, but the underlying sentiment is cause for grave doubts as to future peace and safety... The essays from Financial sense may be of interest for those watching internal economic and other affairs, but for me, not worth posting as a reference set for the rest of the world apart from the revelations of the extreme levels of fraud and corruption that are being exposed, as one would expect of a news report, "that a stray dog was run over and killed as it crossed some busy motorway and caused no auto-mobile accidents or damage" WTF... just, '**** happens', and nothing more? - - to a scam that possibly placed some 1.3 million COUNTERFIET 400oz gold bars into circulation - HALF ARE SUPPOSEDLY IN FORT KNOX ![]() ![]() I am listening to the Financial Sense Newshour (4 podcasts of about an hour each) in MP3 format to listen at your leisure whilst getting drunk on your favourite alcoholic tipple...

| "Combine T3's read with my post" and Doradito and the one who sat through so many years of university without learning English - (we're not talking an occasional mispelling like someone wrapped up in the sciences, we're not talking a typo or four)...Combine all of them, line the F'ing birdcage with 'em. I didn't say single-handed. I'll say it now. The only countries with more killed were those with no choice. Gotta put that "per capita" thing in there to slant the numbers. Boston, I will be happy to send you one-way air anywhere you want to go (subject to the condition that you not come back). I, for one, have learned much about peoples from other lands on this thread. I really have enjoyed meeting and feeling "oneness" with others my entire life but this thread has convinced me that I now favor isolationism. I will never visit the "land of vermin", Queensland, I'll leave the kids and disgusting food (other than European restaurants) of Thailand (being clean, we have better Thai food here) to Frosty. The only thing about Chile is that the good parts are "mini-Alaska" and the people that Doradito despises and they can visit me here. Puerto Rico, I may go again one day but will totally avoid places with Puerto Ricans other than servants. I will be in favor of letting your fetid places of the world rot and look forward to seeing how you handle your future conflicts and what history you rewrite about them. ![]() We have our share of history re-writing here and I don't stand for it either. |
