Neither Mark nor I said the USA won the war single-handedly, but without us it would have been a very different outcome. That is all I have to say on that subject. Spend more time reading history and less time trying to re-write it.

Must say, as much as I like Marks and Hoytes contribution on the other threads, here Boston was just dead right! And he did not poop in his own nest. He just left out the Hurraah Patriotism, too often found in "gods own country".

I would recommended some study of the period.
It might save you from making statements like the above.

Start by ranking the military deaths and injuries sustained by the allied nations.
Finish by asking yourself if just a single lost life would be not enough to claim sacrifice by any nation joining such a necessary conflict.

Christianity may well be the "false religion" as we practice it now, I would not like to claim to fight from "Gods side" - that is just far too arrogant and presumptuous... I feel the attitude that Boston presents is far nearer to "Godliness" than any I have heard so far, by a long country mile in a short race... and he lays NO CLAIM to being a Christian...

bntii, You better be very good, as I feel Boston is well versed and researched in academic methods and historical record analysis...

Frosty, Good to see you chiming in

.
Yes he is- so I am naturally surprised that he got nearly every point in his post wrong.

He will learn- we all do and will if the point is challenged.

I dearly wish we could all be just judged by our actions and done with it.
I don't believe it is nearly so simple as that.

This is a theory of markets being manipulated. The report itself may be to manipulate the market.

When governments stamp phony bars of gold then the gold market will hit the floor,--an ideal time to buy especially if you know it not to be true.

It does'nt frighten me, I don't trust anyone.

Liberal thought?
All I did was state a FACT,and that FACT is that Alaskans get a WELFARE handout (nicely called a "royalty") of a few grand every year.

So who's the sponge???

well I did spend about 7 years ( carrying an excellent grade point average I might add ) at various universities and the one thing that I did study consistently was my minor in history, and the history of warfare was definetly part of the curriculum. While any loss is a great loss the point was and remains that the USA is not the major combatant in WW2. You might be interested to find out I still spend a healthy share of time sitting in on history lectures at the university and always enjoy an informed conversation concerning the minutia of the past.

having given you the benifit of the doubt on this issue I checked
and my previous statement stands after checking multiple sources
US losses were minimal compared to many other countries in all regards except those previously stated

as per your suggestion I have listed the countries involved and there losses from a number of different methods of consideration

you are absolutely right that one death is one to many
but that was never in question ( being a parent I can assure you I firmly believe even one son or daughter is to many to loose )
but the context is that the us saved the world and thats just not so
as I said
all the arms in the world do no good at all if no one is willing to stand up and fight

let see if this chart will pop up in a coherent manor

basically what is clearly shows ( exactly as I suggested in my original ) is that countries like Iraq Thailand Spain Mongolia and South Africa are some of the few countries listed to have lost fewer people total than the USA per capita. as far as per total souls lost the story is not much different with countries like India having lost 4 million and the soviet union having lost 23 million China 10 million or french Indochina at 1 million. The USA did produce war goods and sell them under a number of programs at considerable profit in many cases to the various countries involved however they were not the major combatant. I do however need to go brush up on the lend lease program and its final pay out, I seem to remember the British were held to its tenants until about the 1970s at which point they had paid so much in interest that they had paid the debt about ten times over they successfully argued that the debt be forgiven, but I need to double check that as its been a long time since I followed that particular aspect of the conflict.

The casualties of World War II were suffered disproportionately by the various participants. This is especially true regarding civilian casualties. The following chart gives data on the casualties suffered by each country, along with population information to show the relative impact of losses.

Country Military deaths Civilian deaths Jewish Holocaust deaths Total deaths Total deaths/1,000 population
