| I think she would look GREAT in chains! She has been accused of violating a conflict of interest by voting to exempt American Samoa from minimum wage increases when they were raising the U.S. minimum wage because her husband's allegedly involved with Del Monte tuna and pineapple which come from there and lower wages mean more profit for Del Monte and therefore for the Pelosi family. | From Wikipedia: Minimum Wage controversy Eni Faleomavaega wrote an open letter criticising Del Monte. In January 2007, Del Monte opposed efforts by the United States Congress to apply the continential minimum wage to the lower-paying tuna packing plants in American Samoa, where the company has significant investments.[2] On January 16 2007, Melissa Murphy Brown, vice president for Del Monte, stated that the application would "severely cripple the local economy."[2] She also stated that "For over 50 years, the Federal Department of Labor has provided that wages in U.S. territories, including American Samoa, be set by a federally appointed wage board, following public hearings".[2] Del Monte political action committees gave the trivial sum of $5,300 to Republicans from 2002 to 2007.[2] Democratic Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi has been subject to false claims in chain e-mails and on the American web sites such as Gateway Pundit,[3] Newsbusters,[4] claiming that she or her husband own stock in Del Monte and that she has thus pushed for keeping the tax loophole for Del Monte.[5] Those claims partially originated in vandalism of this Wikipedia page.[5][6] In fact, neither of them own any such stock.[5] Pelosi has not received any contributions of $200 or more from Del Monte employees as well.[6] Democrats who have worked with Pelosi say that Del Monte representives have not talked to her at all.[2] American Samoa non-voting delegate to the United States Congress Eni Faleomavaega, a Democrat, wrote an open letter to Del Monte on May 11, 2007 that read: Throughout the minimum wage debate, Del Monte has chosen to remain silent while Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi has been unfairly attacked by Republicans who suggested that she received campaign dollars from you in exchange for lower minimum wages in American Samoa. As you know, neither Speaker Pelosi nor I have ever received or accepted one penny from Del Monte or Star Kist and a respectable company would have gone on record and made this known. [6] Make your own decision. |

Red is good. You are in good company. There was that actor, better known for throwing the telephone at the receptionist somewhere in the usa,who came up with much the same plan. He said, there are 300 millions of people here, give each one million and nirvana!!! But bored nautical officer, with a lot of time at his disposal and slight inclination to numbers, couldn't pass up the chance to point the obvious: that's a lot of money that no one has. Not to mention that in capitalism a lot of money in hands of burger, cola and chips addicts can only mean more ****. Oh, and inflation would be horrendous. The red star flies high... |

| Ive just seen a documentary on the telly. Im not happy with Americans just right now, my bottom lip is firmly out. President Nixon said they were helping Cambodia, he dropped 20 million bombs while he spoke. This disabled the Government allowing in the khmer rougein power. They killed 3 million people. The documentary was about the poverty left by the war today as many men were scrapping millions of bombs that never went off (so much for American quality). The sit sawing them in half with a hack saw, it takes 8 days to get a 400 lb bomb into small bits. They also pick up land mines for the scrap metal value. Most of the men have limbs missing as they continue to risk their lives to keep food on the table "kinda" at 20 dollars for a 400lb bomb. Nixon said they were not fighting Cambodia but were helping them to help themselves. This is not yesterday this was life today. It was a shocking documentary,-- History channel. |

| Yeah, the History Channel is owned by NBC which is firmly in the Obama camp. The Killing fields of Cambodia happened because the Democrat controlled U.S. Congress cut off funding forcing U.S. troops to abandon the field of battle. Even the N. Vietnamese generals knew that this is why they won. The massacres in Cambodia were carried out by Pol Pot, another red star waver. |

| Its a little more that a political hick up if thats how you want to accept it. It was mindless killing, it was B49 dropping endless bombs from open bomb doors of endless squadrans of bomb raids on rice fields and hopelessly poor people. Its left me cold. --even with the most despicable ambitious politician at some point some human morals must click in. |

| American quality has gone out the window and has been replaced by cheap. The whole value system in consumer goods is cheap and disposable. Everything is produced as cheaply as it can be produced wherever it can be produced the cheapest. Often I'll do without or improvise and make do rather than pay for the overpriced cheaply made consumer goods they attempt to sell me on the shelf. It burns me that all this cheaply made junk has to be repaired and or replaced so often its totally unnecessary and wasteful. Instead of replacing things all the time a person could acquire other useful things that a person could also use. As far the bombs go I really don't know what to say. We have a national forest a ways from here I visit at times. And it's posted everywhere with pictures to boot of the live unexploded ordinance thats still laying around there. This stuff was dropped as training for WW2 pilots and its still and will be a danger for a long long time.

| there are about 1500 new laws created in this country every year each one makes a criminal out of an otherwise honest man the right honorable's answer to "how the hell was I supposed to know you couldn't carry a gold fish on the subway" is that ignorance is no excuse and then they slap you with a fine or jail time. Quote:
what they did was make health insurance like car insurance, mandate that you go out and buy it or face some pretty extreme penalties ( $4,800) at tax time. If you fail to pay your penalties it gets attached to your home, if you fail to pay that, after three years, they can seize your home and sell it for the back taxes. nice eh oh and they are likely to drop the public option which would be the gov sponsored sliding scale bare bones so to speak insurance option for those who cant afford it otherwise so what you end up with is a mandate to spend upwards of $700~1000 a month buying a private health insurance plan from one of the providers or pay a huge fine which caries a compulsory immediate payment as a tax which as you probably know comes with its own set of draconian collection measures essentially a lot of people are simply not going to be able to comply with the new law homeowners living on the edge for instance who are not covered otherwise will be forced to chose between there home and the new gov mandate the insurance industry has made it clear that there going to be raising prices dramatically the gov is trying to make it law that you buy from them or face loss of home, financial ruin and its entirely likely some will end up in jail because of it they should have just copied the Canadian system and eliminated the insurance companies |
