| You have similar price as New Zealand Yipster, and expecting two dollars a litre by Christmas.LPG for autos is now getting a big run,can not satisfy demand. It is a pity we are still stuck with old technology for our LPG,that is gas extraction rather than liquid injection.

| Definitely puts things in perspective (or lack thereof). Before the hurricane, everyone was complaining to no end when gas prices went over $3.00 a gallon. At about $3.49/gallon, I caught a family taking photos alongside the gas pump because it was the highest number the little girl had ever seen on a gas pump! |

| I just have a feeling that prices go up a lot easier than they go down again, they stick up there somehow and don't want to come down again... It would not surprise me if prices in the US settle down higher than they are now after this crisis is over. Don't complain too much guys, the US is still cheap! compared to the rest of the developed world Mikey |

| Fuel prices have killed us in South Texas. Myself and several other small builders/ repair shops are going under, or are already there as I am. The boat ramps are half empty on Saturday mornings when they were parking along the street before. Most of the Port Aransas charter fleet is for sale, and the head boats have had to add fuel surcharges to stay alive. As for me, I am looking to move to the southeast somewhere if I can find work. I will dearly miss Texas, but I can't stay, there aren't many builders, and the ones that are around won't pay much. Anyone hiring? ![]()

| Diesel is running at around $1.45 here in Oz at the regular pump - more at a marina - so at the current exchange rate, that's $6.80 per USG. Not good! ![]()

| Just my opninion, Here in Belgium we are around 1.1EUR/litre(5.22USD/gal I believe). As diesel is getting more expensive allmost every day, LPG might be the solution. I encoutered this as one of my dilemmas for my design, diesel or gasoline engine? diesel engine way more expensive than gasoline engine Red diesel (with less taxes) very cheap 0.5 Eur but will no more be allowed in 2007 so this will leave a minor price diff towards gasoline, as well in price per liter as in consumption. diesel more robust engine than gasoline, I think for the diesel being the 5 or 6-fold price of an gasoline, i can make a few major overhauls to my gasoline engine. alternatives are comming to replace diesel (bio diesel etc.) but they are not cheaper for the moment. An alternative to gasoline exists -> LPG, so my decision is made I know it won't be easy to find refuel, unless your boat is on the trailer. Even worse I think as gaoline is more poluant, the will put higher and higher taxes and standards to use this kind of fuel. anyway time will tell. after the seventies the prices dropped to a verry low point. for now we are getting higher and higher maybe the 100USD a barrel for 2006? BTW : I will using the boat for pleasure only

| Danielsan, Have you considered that any kind of gasoline is highly flammable? Anything goes wrong, you will become 'well done' pretty quickly. Mikey |

| Both of them are outright deadly IF anything were to happen on a boat. LPG is just like gasoline highly flammable, or rather, it has a low flash point so it is actually even more flammable. There is plenty of it on the internet, search on - LPG "highly flammable" This is an interisting document from Luhrs http://www.luhrsmarine.co.uk/about/L...ropaneLeak.doc Here is one list I found; Advantages of using LPG :
In a car, sure. For me, in a boat, no. Mikey Last edited by Mikey : 09-08-2005 at 07:51 PM. Reason: Luhrs |
